Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

More to the point, as a mental health professional, he would have people telling him details of things that had them upset, which has a grave security dimension to this whole mess.

That's true. Also, I wonder if/how this pig manipulated the military patients? Another question - many DC area FReeper's go to Walter Reed on a regular basis - I wonder if any of them ever ran across this Hasan?

Perhaps the military needs to rethink their protocols.(rolls eyes)

Update 5:26 News Channel 25's Natasha Chen has learned the suspected shooter Maj. Malik Hasan had "Allah" keyed into his car last week. He reported it as a hate crime.....

What are their names and what their backgrounds?

He looks middle eastern to me. Just has no hair so it’s a bit more ambiguous. He has olive type skin and semitic features. He’s middle eastern for sure.
