Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

As soon as I heard about the shooting at Ft Hood I knew the Muslims were responsible, but I am SHOCKED! Yes, SHOCKED! That the shooter was an officer in the United States Army!

The guy is supposedly a Muslim convert, which leads me to think he's probably a black officer who converted to Islam after becoming an officer. Political Correctness would have made it impossible to ease him out as a security risk.

Mom lives down in the Killeen area. Said local news reported earlier of something happening in the base housing area - Comanche 3 or 4 — whatever that means. Tons of police cars and shots being fired. Did one of the suspects move into the housing area after the initial shots were fired? Don't know.

I'm in Killeen - there were a lot of conflicting early reports but I don't think there was any gunfire in the housing areas.
