Daily Presidential Tracking Poll -- 0bama now at -14!
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 23 August 2009 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/23/2009 6:35:52 AM PDT by ScottinVA

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30 (see trends).

Prior to today, the number who Strongly Approved of the President’s performance had never fallen below 29%. Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party. Just 49% of Democrats offer such a positive assessment of the President at this time.

At the other end of the spectrum, today’s total for Strongly Disapprove matches the highest level yet recorded. The 41% mark was reached just once before and that came one week ago today. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans now Strongly Disapprove along with 49% of those not affiliated with either major party.

Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.” Topics include health care, the deficit, stimulus package, state polls and more.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) now disapprove.

Unfortunately, the GOP is still unable to capitalize on the voters' rejection of the Democrats and their agenda.
The GOP needs new leadership in both the House and the Senate.
Both McConnell and Boehner still have lower national approval than President 0.J., Nanzi Pelozi, or Harry Reid.

If the GOP wants to retake the House and possibly the Senate, then they must face this fact and put fresh new leadership in place that can successfully take a national campaign to the voters. The voters bristle at both Boehner and McConnell. They cannot do what is needed. The GOP needs more charismatic frontmen.

Mike Pence is the One to do it in the House. John Thune is probably the best person for the task in the Senate. Jim DeMint or Tom Coburn could be good GOP leaders in the Senate as well, but both run a very real risk of being successfully painted as divisive by the media and giving the Democrats an easy foil to distract voters from the Democrat record of failure.

Going on vacation shouldn’t be very restful....He’s going to a place that it took months for the SS and his family to agree on...

It’s owned by Conservative Republicans....tic
It does not have secure phones etc. All briefing must be brought to him on paper...He has to read them....tic tic

Since communication is not secure, they can (and probably are tapped)his lines of communication. He’s left the WH...major staff members are also on vacation DA, RE , VJ etc...or if they do contact him it will not be on secure phones...So how are you going to communicate with your henchmen, Ospama? tic

He has tried to scrub every bit of information related to his early life, from BC onward.......BUT he’ll never be certain he’s gotten it all. Anything that pops up he’s more interested in then we are. tic tic tic

.....and as he leaves town: A guy who admits he’ll break laws to get what he wants, displays a BC from Kenya, with probable sights and maybe even people that BO would recognize.....tic tic tic have a nice vacation Mr. Pres__ent. tic tic tic

AND his ratings are falling......tic

Yes we do.

AK not having a lot of people is a plus not a minus. And I didn’t specify how long a period, nor the remaining population in the Lower 48 after the use of nukes by both the fueding factions.

Yikes! Do you actually think it’ll come down to that? Nukes?

MY EXPERIENCE ONLY, having been in a very liberal university in the 60-70's, and in close association with such communities since then:

I believe that there may be as much as an additional 12-15% or completely committed socialists from that time, who have not grown up, and have resisted the "Dictum of Churchill": "A man who is not liberal at 20 has no heart. A man who is not a conservative by 40 has no brain." (You probably know this has been variously stated, as he made such comments many times... I've got no heart, by the way.)

In "college towns" there are many many 60's radicals who still are prominently running about amassing power and in the "protest" business. In Ithaca, NY, one of the COMMUNISTS won mayor on the Communist ticket. An undeclared communist is currently mayor (I know her personally). There are dozens of activists who support her, and there are thousands who are excited about such collectivist philosophies as Dear Leader's. If you are far from that type of crowd, it is hard to realize how strong that 60-70 movement still remains. It was weak enough that Hitlery was defeated (who was a "stronger" candidate) but they give total support to Dear Leader. Though they realize his methodology is weaker, the compensation is that his CommuFascist ideology is more solid.

(I'm going to repeat the numbers I erased from the note I wrote you earlier- wanted to get your reasons first without tainting your answer)

My guess would be that the base of "never get below Strong Approval" is about 9%black + 9-12%other. Though these SuperLibs from "IvyLeague" and I.L.wannabes are not that large a group, they have a disproportionate effect on the attitude of the public, their parents and others they come in contact with (at least that is what my experience traveling the country appears to be)

My guess at the base of "Strong Approval" would then be 20%, +/- 2%. I hope you're right, LS. I will not argue, that on most political commentary, that you have better instincts than I have.

No, I think our range is pretty close. I said 15% (12% black and 3% other) and you said 20%. I think the diff will boil down to exactly how radical O gets, plus some other things that are starting to percolate, such as the Afghanistan situation.

On the one hand, the Dems don't want to be saddled with losing a war. On the other hand, no Dem since Truman knew how to fight one. So how does the Joker sell it? He's already said we don't need a "victory" there. All this MAY . . . MAY . . . cut into his super approval with the uberlibs, the way the war cut into Bush's numbers with the isolationist right.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

I use “Zippy” based on two characters. One is a British puppet (”naughty, selfish Zippy doesn’t care about his friends!”) who is tan and has a zipper for a mouth:

So the British “Zippy” shares some of Hussein’s character traits. This American “Zippy,” so popular in the ‘50’s, possesses some of Barry’s physical attributes. On the sides of his head, especially:

You would think they’d have more sense than to kill their golden goose but many are on welfare for a reason: they are “mentally challenged” and believe in nonsensical things that would make a productive citizen shake his head.

I guess that is pretty close, though the way I see it, 15 to 20 is a difference of 25% or 33%. No matter. More important, I don’t honestly believe that it is possible for anyone to get to the absolute base. Some actions that make someone mad will make others happy. If the “Strong Support” gets down to the 22-25% area, I can not IMAGINE that it can get any lower in a poll- if only because “support” people say “Strongly Support” just because they are feeling sorry for the polled person.

There is not much further to go before “Strong Support” hits rock bottom, in this way of thinking. Again, that is largely because of the solid “base” of “demographic support”(blacks- who I AGREE with ANY reasons they might give, and sympathize with them) who Dear Leader can NOT lose no matter what he does - a support base that no other president in history really enjoyed.
