You are quite welcome, there is a wealth of knowledge around here of all types, don’t be afraid to ask questions, that is how we ALL learn, myself included. Remember there are lots of people with the same question in their mind who are afraid to ask or just dont ask and they will never learn the answer.

Fantastic. My internet connection is really bad today, so I haven’t been able to read this whole thread, but your timeline suggestion is really significant, I think.

This thread is an insult to my intelligence. You insult every ones intelligence with your post.
The first direct elections for Africans to the Legislative Council took place in 1957. Despite British hopes of handing power to “moderate” African rivals, it was the Kenya African National Union (KANU) of Jomo Kenyatta that formed a government shortly before Kenya became independent on 12 December 1963.
We are discussing a certificate issued in 1964.

I think the House action would initiate a Joint Session for purposes of reconsideration of the certification of the result of the Electoral College vote. And procedurally, it may fall out of bed in the process.
There is a fair amount of law in support of the proposition that ineligibility vitiates the process. I still don’t think Barack is the President; I have looked in a very cursory way at the amendments and I don’t see where you go otherwise. It looks to me as though Joe as duly elected Vice President, is acting President until some eligible person is chosen.

I think there might be a difference between a document intended for external use in a treaty with another country and one that was for domestic use within the country (a country that planned to become a republic and was in the process of writing its constitution as such). Itranslate a lot of official documents and countries often refer to their very own agencies and government offices in several different ways in the same (official) document.
We won’t know until we see other birth certificates from that date, IMHO. Btw, the microfilmed Kenyan national archives are supposedly at the University of Syracuse (New York). I don’t know what years or why they’re there, but that’s what another posted said earlier in this thread.
To: jveritas
What did they call themselves in the interim? That’s what needs to be found out. Until that’s found out, we don’t know either way.
If I didn’t know who you were, I’d have assumed you were a troll to given your behavior.

Look carefully. It's not a birth certificate, but a "Certified Copy of Registration of Birth". Similar to a COLB in the US. BUT - it refers to the source of the original: "Birth register of province book *** page ****"

Vroedschap is a Dutch word meaning city council and Utrecht is a town in the Netherlands. Something happened, I don’t know what, that prompted the Utrecht city council to flee, presumably Utrecht, 113 years ago.

Unfortunately not really. We get so bashed unjustly, ect and infiltrated regularly that most of us regulars are really wary of new posters. Just be patient, honest and look at the date someone joined before replying. Also perhaps look up some of their posting history. ITs the only way we really have of figuring out the crediblity of any given poster. Just recently here I have been unjustly attacked by someone “credible” but because I have been here a long time and am pretty damn honest and admit my mistakes (don’t even start with API guys)I have come through it.
You can’t tell who anyone is on the internet. Ultimately that is reality.

This is only wikipedia, but they state: On June 1, 1964, Kenyatta became President when he successfully had Parliament amend the Constitution to make Kenya a republic with his office becoming executive President: the head of State, head of Government, and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. Is this not so?
Even if true, the date given is after this document was stamped on February 17th, 1964. The history posted on the country's own official government websites lists december 1964 as the date it became a republic, but maybe there is something to the claim about June as well, don't rule it out.
I do not rule out the possibility that an official "republic" seal might have existed before it officially became a republic, I just think it's a really great reason to be skeptical of the document until we find the same seal on similarly dated docs...

Encarta has him taking the title of president, along with the forming of the republic, in December, 1964, as you’ve suggested. Yet is it possible that he won the key votes, while as prime minister, in 1964 to establish such?
