CPAC Chairman: Palin Not Ready for Presidential Run
Thursday, July 9, 2009 8:27 AM
By: Ronald Kessler
Sarah Palin needs to stop whining about unfair media coverage and get over the fact that some people dont like her, Dave Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, tells Newsmax.
Palin doesnt seem to get that politics is a tough game, says Keene, one of the countrys most astute political observers.
The American Conservative Union, with 1 million members, runs the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington and publishes an annual "Rating of Congress," the gold standard for ideological assessments of members of Congress.
Youve got to recognize that there are people who want you to fail, Keene says. And if you spend your time worrying about them, or whining about what they say, at the very least itll get you off your game, because you ought to be worried about what youre going to do, not about what theyre going to do to you.
Resigning as governor of Alaska only compounded Palins problems, which have been accumulating since the November election, Keene says.
In the period leading up to the resignation, she needed to get over the fact that people didnt like her, Keene says. Get over the fact that she harbored resentment for the McCain people that used her. All of those things are true, but she got more out of it than they did, and she had to begin to move on with what she needed to establish in terms of her own image, to move to the next level. And she delayed doing that.
"Now it becomes more difficult because of the way in which she bailed out on the governorship.
I’d like to know how we purge the party of people like Keene from any official republican/conservative postion.
RINOs are one thing, which he is (of the worst sort, Specter supporter?), he is also a whiner, whining about Palin not accepting the vile attacks on her family, and making a mockery of the 11th.
Who needs ‘em.

Tell them what you think about his disgusting attack on Palin.
If he’s not for us, he’s against. I’ll have no part of McCain or any other RINO that implements the leftist’s pipe dreams at a slower pace. In the end, we wind up in the same place.
It’s time to play hardball with the RP. I’ve tagged along as far as I intend to with guys like McCain.
Take care.

Pretty simple isn’t it. What’s the difference if Obama does it in eight years, or if our bozos take 20 to do the same thing. We are still destroyed either way.
That’s what made me realize that Medication additions to Medicare, and doubling the budget of the Department of Education in just four years, were things a Democrat would have loved to do. If Bush could have arranged it, every illegal alien in country would be a U.S. Citizen today, and there would be an almost open border as almost anyone who wanted to come here from Mexico would have been given a work permit, and rushed through.
Our folks are implementing the leftist’s pipe dreams.
Well, not on my dime or vote they’re not!
I just had an epiphany :) I get the feeling Sarah is going to do something with Glenn Beck in some capacity. He too, announced recently that he has something big brewing and now he’s been off all week!
I can dream can’t I? Bottom line is, those 2 would make a powerful conservative team over the next 18 mos getting conservatives elected!!
In recent years, freeper contingents still showed up to support the organization.
Fast forward to today.....may I suggest that our members support and purchase tickets to the Freeper National Convention in DC in September rather than make the not-so-keen Mr. Keene look good to his fellow Palin-haters who are organizing the conference?

Keene, who endorsed Romney on Thursday, tells Newsmax that Romney is a good conservative and the best of the bunch. - November 29, 2007
Keene has headed the ACU, the countrys oldest and largest conservative grass-roots lobbying group, since 1984.
For some time, Keene had been discussing issues with Romney
Jeb Bushs former finance chairman, Cardenas is on Keenes board and chairs Romneys National Hispanic Steering Committee.
And the reason I decided to break my neutrality, which Ive maintained from the beginning, is that the Mike Huckabee surge in Iowa could easily derail the Romney momentum that hes going to need to break through what Rudy Giuliani calls his firewall in Florida before the big primaries. And I therefore think its important that conservatives who think that Romney is the best of the bunch and are concerned about the impact of a Giuliani nomination on the conservative coalition and the general election, have to come out now because in essence a vote for Huckabee in Iowa is a vote for Rudy.

Can't have anyone ruining the good ole' boys network. How's that Obama 'change' working out for you?!

May I second that?

Good ole boys are about to get a real shock...
“BTW, I hope that David is clued into this thread. I know he knows FreeRepublic. And, if he doesn’t pay attention to FR in sampling conservative opinion, he is dumber than I ever thought.”
I don’t know the feller, but he can be reached at:
Fear not, I have a long memory. And, may I suggest you go back over several of the sneering posts on this thread -- or pay more attention in the future.
Well David Keene, Arlen Specter knew EXACTLY what to do. He looked at the party that brung him to the dance, and stabbed it in the chest.
Uh, pardon me, I'm not real sure what you are talking about here, but it doesn't stike me as having much of anything to do with what I said in my post #201.
I was attacking Keene for a stupid comment. Your post and position was excellent! I should have been more clear.
I first got to know David Keene about 45 years ago, in YAF. In 1965 he ran the Youth for Victory in Vietnam, and then became Chairman of YAF. In those days the ACU had not only a DC presence, but had many state and local branches, some of which actually had professional organizers. Since David became Chairman the ACU has dwindled to a DC organization which rates congress and puts on the CPAC, and not much else.
Besides supporting Sen. Spector recently, he opposed Ronald Reagan when he ran for the Presidential nomination in 1968 AND 1980 (He did support Reagan in the 1976 campaign). He has always been on the extreme RINO side of the conservative movement.
“He has always been on the extreme RINO side of the conservative movement. “
At best, useless.
Well he did support the good guys in Vietnam.
