CPAC Chairman: Palin Not Ready for Presidential Run
Thursday, July 9, 2009 8:27 AM
By: Ronald Kessler
Sarah Palin needs to stop whining about unfair media coverage and get over the fact that some people dont like her, Dave Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, tells Newsmax.
Palin doesnt seem to get that politics is a tough game, says Keene, one of the countrys most astute political observers.
The American Conservative Union, with 1 million members, runs the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington and publishes an annual "Rating of Congress," the gold standard for ideological assessments of members of Congress.
Youve got to recognize that there are people who want you to fail, Keene says. And if you spend your time worrying about them, or whining about what they say, at the very least itll get you off your game, because you ought to be worried about what youre going to do, not about what theyre going to do to you.
Resigning as governor of Alaska only compounded Palins problems, which have been accumulating since the November election, Keene says.
In the period leading up to the resignation, she needed to get over the fact that people didnt like her, Keene says. Get over the fact that she harbored resentment for the McCain people that used her. All of those things are true, but she got more out of it than they did, and she had to begin to move on with what she needed to establish in terms of her own image, to move to the next level. And she delayed doing that.
"Now it becomes more difficult because of the way in which she bailed out on the governorship.
If she can drag conservatives back across the finish line next year she will be well positioned and people like Keene will be singing a different tune.
How about, “Hot Buttered PopScorn”...
If Sarah goes on the campaign trail, and helps elect Conservatives into the Senate we can take that back, we all should thank Sarah for that. I think that is what she meant by “higher calling” she wants to help bring back the Conservative movement, we should all be thankful to her for that
This poor fool doesn’t realize he is kicking himself in the ass.......people will choose Sarah over CPAC with their donations....you watch..
Prior to being elected president, if Obama were to apply for the job of CEO of any major corporation he would never get hired.
What you say is ridiculous. Conservatives need someone to rally around. We had nobody to rally around in 2008, just a bunch of RINOs and dem lites.
People don’t worship Sarah, they like her, and feel she would be a great candidate that can rally the support to beat Obama. Many people out here are tired of the DC Republicans and Democrats. They do not trust them. Sarah is a real Maverick who connects with the people.
Romney, Huckster, Jindal, whoever RINO, will get us a replay of 2008.
CPAC is a Romney affiliated organization since he spends so much money bringing all his supporters to CPAC and then buys ballots for them. Cannot bite the hand that fees you. (sarcasm)
Since he is part of the good old boy, inside the beltway group, this Oklahoman reads what he has to say and promptly forgets what I read.
See post 86....
That may already be the case.
If he's so great, why have I never heard of him? And, from now on, ACU ratings go in the same category as Debka or Snopes. They're true when they're true and not when they're not. Aka, a truism.
David Keene
Just another D-Bag, T-Baggin’, RINO Romney Bot
“Keane is correct. Governor Palin needs to toughen up and worry about what she is doing, not what others say about her.”
Why can’t you Palin haters (and MittBots?) get it through your skulls that Palin didn’t resign because of what people we saying about her, but rather because the false ethics complaints were interferring with her doing her job, let alone running for President, and you can’t run for President from Alaska? And as for the defamation talk - gee, you don’t like a conservative who FIGHTS BACK?
Sheesh.
But don’t worry, I’m sure Gov. Palin and her supporters really don’t give a d@mn about what her detractors say, except on occassion to vent their frustration (ie, posts on threads such as this)...
What’s hilarious is that Sarah has NEVER said she is gonna run for President, those words never came out of her mouth. People are assuming she is gonna run in 2012, perhaps she sees her calling right now in helping to bring back the Conservative movement, kinda like what Reagan did. I’d like to see the reaction from this Keene dufus if Sarah helps elect a bunch of Conservatives into the Senate, then what is he gonna say, oh I know, he is gonna kiss her feet and say Thank You, to which I hope Sarah kicks him in the face
If Mr. Keene has some good advice for Gov. Palin, he can give it to her without having it published far and wide.
Unless, of course, he WANTS to get her “off her game.”
There’s a difference between some people “not liking you” and what has been happening, mainly focused on her family.
The problem, Mr. Keene, is this is politics, and while some people don’t like Sarah Palin, most of the people who have until now supported your organization, do. A mature political player who is trying to help conservatism would not make such remarks, because it can do his organization no good. By making such disparaging remarks, you are off your game, and of course, you should get ready for negative feedback whose support you should want, but have just forfeited.
Dave obviously sucks huge rump sauce. Dave is either another dirty Republican Palin Hater who has something to hide, or he's acting on behalf of such filth. IMHO.
