I haven't posted in a very long time and I hope the pictures post correctly. The Convention was held in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms. It was a fun, informative event and nice to put a face to all the Freepers. Our thanks go out to ROOS_Girl, MinuteGal, and seekthetruth for organizing the event. Thanks to Surfer for moderating...what a great job he did. Special thanks to all the speakers who shared their knowledge with all of us. Please share your comments about the event.
In #14, ken is to the right (& a very very tall man!)
I hope that all Illinois Freepers will attend the Illinois Center Right Coalition convention, which will be held in June, in Champaign.
“As they were leaving, I tried to get a look at their patches to see if I recognized their outfit, but my attention was drawn to the flag patch on one, a female, close to me. It wasn’t an American Flag she was wearing, but a global map instead. I was curious if anyone could expound on that.”
That is interesting. Hope other Freepers can provide more info. Hubby and I didn’t go to the H2O Grill for lunch. Just had a snack and talked with others.
Great that your neighbor will be coming on board! Ask her to FreepMail me when she does so I can add her screen name to my Florida Freeper list. :)
I'll be sure my friend FReepmails you when she joins up.
Ping to this post and 106. Just curious if you saw these soldiers and recognized their shoulder patch. Thanks

Jim, please modify this policy. I understand that you don’t want someone “blasting” all the state boards with spam. But there must be a solutin here.
BTW, people DO JOIN more than one state group. They just use different screen names, etc. MinuteGal is just too sincere to be that cynical.
You can post to other state boards. All you have to do is go to your profile page and select the other location. Works great for snow birds. Or, if it’s just for a one time post or series of posts, change it back when done.
Thanks
Doc,
I”m Not familiar with that patch.
In other business, I've been asked to decode the six clues describing the "Singing GI Joe Bear". We announced there would be a donated gift for the person who could come the closest to guessing the identity or makeup of the prize.
Here's the clues and how they applied to the prize:
Clue #1...."Whoever wins the prize will love it" and Clue #2...."It's about the size of a breadbox". (The bear is about the size of a breadbox and EVERYBODY loved it!)
Clue #3...."It's something Obama would hate." (The prize is both patriotic and military......'nuff said).
Clue #4...."Of animal, vegetable and mineral, the prize is animal and it's covered with spots".(He's a military bear and his uniform is covered with camoflage spots!).
Clue #5...."You'll wake up on the 'right' side with your morning joe". (If you take this teddy to bed with you, you'll wake up with this brave little GI Joe).
Clue #6...." 'Tenshun, freepers, win me and take me home in your old ditty bag. I would look great in your den, sun room, or on a shelf in your office cubicle. Your co-workers would be green with envy. Reserve your hotel room now!"
(Two military words in here, " 'Tenshun" and "Reserve". Two words referring to a bear are here, "den" and "CUBicle". "Ditty" refers to a song. The soldier bear sings the ditty, "God Bless the USA".
(Also, if you look closely, the last name of the singer who made the song famous is hidden in the third sentence).
(.....evil grin, heheh)
No one guessed the prize. However, for his very clever, stab-in-the-dark, losing guess, "Bushbacker1" took the booby prize, a dollar bill suitable for mounting with a great photo of John Wayne in the circle usually occupied by George Washington. General Washington graciously gave us his blessing for the substitution.
In our afternoon session the bear award, ensconced in a tool box (I couldn't find a suitable bread box, LOL), was presented to "The Duke" whose name had been pulled by Mr. Robinson in a blind drawing.
Thanks for your participation, Jim. And our appreciation also for your surprise phone call from out there on the Left Coast to our Florida conventioneers. It was the highlight of our afternoon meeting.
GOD BLESS THE USA!
(Bears repeating!)

Good evening. I thought I would bump the thread with this familiar diddy...
"This is my weapon, this is my gun, this one is for killing, this one is for fun."
Drill Sargent!!
NOW GIVE ME FIFTY, maggot!
Brings back some memories doesn't it?

They were great clues, Leni! And can see now that they were right on target! :)

My hubby (known as #357) says it sure does bring back memories! Said he did a lot of FIFTY’s! And after he told his Drill Sargent that he needed to go to “be nice” school, he got to do FIFTY more! :)
Oh boy! My Mama always told me if you poke the bull with a stick, you get the horns.
She also told me never to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, too.

Sorry for the late check-in on the thread. Been working out of town every day and my computer was down until my son came over and got it back up and running a little bit ago.
It was REALLY great to see old FReeper friends and meet so many new ones at the conference.
I gotta say thanks to Roos_Girl, Minutegal, seekthetruth, surfer, and Bob Ireland, without whose organizational skills and hard work, the conference wouldn’t have been near the success that it was.
Whoo Hoo!!!
Right you are M Kehoe! LOL!
If any Freepers have more photos, it would be fun to see them! :)
If you will private email me an address...I will send you a cap with flashing flag on the front that I also added to the door prizes in Orlando.
This offer is open to any other conventions to be held in the future. Just ask!
You told me I made a good point at the conference, and you wanted to talk to me about it, but never did. We were having too much fun.
I want to propose that FL have closed primaries. It was the democRATs crossing over that gave Capt. Queeg the win in our primary. I know, many of them told me so. We need to get legislation past to close the primary.
Ok, what did you want to talk to me about?
8^)

Damned if I can remember now what it was, LOL.
