Also, I thought when performing a diplomatic bow you kept your feet together and bowed mostly from the waist. Obama almost looks like he’s genuflecting toward the Saudi king.

Not sure about the ring kissing — someone is in the way. As far as the Bow... No. NEVER. Especially such a deep bow while looking at the ground (bending the head). Lots of comments on this thread regarding protocols and such. The only “bow” that should be made would be a mutual bow (such as when greeting a Japanese diplomat - and then it’s not the same - the eyes remain up, and the bow is equal — kind of like we’re taught in Martial Arts classes before sparring).
This wasn’t some “faux pas”. Common sense tells us that if all of US know this was WAY wrong, then the PRES_ENT has NO EXCUSE... Other possible explanation brought up in the thread — the Saudi Emir is the “Keeper of the Mosques” (kind of like the “Islamic Pope”, if you will). None of the possible explanations are good, and almost all of the possible explanations are incredibly bad.

Actually, there is an Office of Protocol, and someone assigned to the President to prevent any faux pas — like the gift selection, how to greet heads of state, etc... EVERY President is a novice when it comes to most protocols, even if there were previously a lower level diplomat — different rules. Chances are they are completely dismissing the advice of their Protocol advisor who has probably been with the State Dept. through multiple administrations...

I agree with you. I never suggested he should bow or otherwise submit.
An American president, actually, no American, should ever bow and the flag should never be dipped.
And while he's at it, is "faithful Catholic" Mike planning to protest at any planned parenthood clinics? Mikey made a point at the Oscars about how the Pope opposed the war and whenever the Pope is against something, it must be wrong.

Obama take note: Many world leaders are pretending to like you because that will keep you off-guard. You are so needy, and they know it and are playing into your emotional dysfunctions. Do you think that in all the thousands of years of history, foreign leaders have not seen incompetent people like you who are dependent on praise because they are actually unable to be effective leaders? You must have attention, so they are willing to play your game while these people are really laughing behind your back. Watch out, many are planning to stab you once you have let down your guard. You are just too dumb and too narcissistic to realize it. Attention is your drug. And all this praise and friendliness, while you cowtow to them, is a rouse to make you feel good, but it is really to make you unsuspecting and vulnerable. Dumb, dumb Obama!
