Make sure to check out our ongoing thread for updates about the Regional Convention being held in Orlando on April 25. The convention will be at the spectacular Gaylord Palms hotel and we've gotten a group rate of just $99/night on guest rooms. Updated information will be posted Monday on how to make your reservations.
RG, Convention Chair
California vibes being sent to all you awesome Freepers from all of us who can’t be there in person.
Well, we're gonna meet again in Central Florida - there was a lot of senseless violence last time, and Bob wasen't even carrying the .50 calibre
And Mike, leave the sharks alone this time, OK?
This oughta get the Secret-Service off their asses...
Ready? ... Aim ... Have fun!!! .......... FRegards
Here it is:
"'Tenshun, convention freepers! Win me and take me home from Orlando in your old ditty-bag. I would look great in your den, sun room or on a shelf in your office cubicle. Your co-workers would be green with envy. Reserve your room now....and good luck."
If you want to make a guess on the prize, send it to "MinuteGal" by freepmail. Do NOT post it here. In case of duplicate correct guesses, first one received will win. This mini-contest closes tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
If you're confused, hah, what we have here is a "contest within a contest". There will be a blind drawing of a name from the list of hotel room registrants. JimRob will do the drawing on Tuesday night. There's a nice little prize, so hurry up and phone the hotel to register. That's the main contest.
Just for some fun, we started an offshoot mini-contest to see if anyone can identify the above prize or come reasonably close. Prior clues to the identity of the prize are on post # 162.
Remember, your guess MUST be freepmailed to "MinuteGal". It will be acknowledged by return freepmail. DON'T post it on this thread or you will be instantly ineligible, yep!.
You only have to be registered for a room to be eligible in the drawing by JimRob.

Happy Monday y’all!
I managed to dig out from under all the moving boxes to send this ping out to everyone! I’m pinging the whole Florida list with this one.
One last time, please everyone that’s coming to the convention (doesn’t matter if you have reserved a hotel room or not) send me a quick Freep mail, it can be as short as 1 number; the number of people in your party that will be attending the convention. I’m thinking that we’re going to exceed the number of people that I asked the hotel to set up for, so I want to make sure that everyone has a place to sit and be comfortable. If you’re not coming you don’t have to send me anything.
Plus, I want to make sure that MinuteGal & SeekTheTruth are making enough home made donuts and pastries for everyone that’s showing up. ;)
Following this post will be a map of the hotel/convention center.
These maps are a little small, but it's what the hotel has on their website. This is also a link to the hotel's address and driving directions.
We’re in Marci! Staying 24-25
REMEMBER! Read the clues above, make your guess as to what you think the Convention Prize is, and send your guess by FREEPMAIL to “MinuteGal”! There will be a surprise for the Freeper with the “closest guess” as to what the Convention Prize might be.
And just another REMINDER! Please Freepmail Chair Roos_Girl the number in your party attending the meeting Saturday. :)
2 Attending - Staying Sat nite only.

Hi Roos Girl, I am definitely planning on coming, but haven’t booked the hotel yet because I was waiting to see if our track team made it to the next level. They did, which means that I will stay over Friday night and drive home Saturday. Can you get me a room or should I call them directly?
Thanks!
TRS
Perhaps this map will help round out your 'directions' link:
The hotel nearly touches I-4 just off of Exit #65, labeled 'Osceola Parkway - East' so once on the right road it is nearly impossible to miss this large imposing structure standing there all by itself.
Also notice that International Drive also goes right by the hotel.
Anyone wishing to visit Disney's Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, in this map they are just above the 'scale' graphic in the upper left corner. [WARNING: EPCOT stands for 'Every Person Comes Out Tired!] ;-D

Roos_Girl may still be at work, so I will answer for her. You will need to call direct to reserve your room for Friday evening. Check these links for reservations. :)

Thanks, STT, I found the number and called already. Thanks for the input and I look forward to seeing you there!

I’m a coming, Bahama Mama! See you there! There may be two of us, I’ll let you know!
of course I will be there...my family will be with me...but I will be the only attending the meeting.
Registrations phoned in before 6 PM tomorrow (Tuesday) will be eligible. Details of prize drawing are on posts #94 & #247.
This doesn't mean you can't register for a room after tomorrow. The hotel has extended our $99 plus tax room rate through our convention time period. If you're a room guest, you can even STAY ON at this rate if you want to see Sea World or Ebcott a day or two AFTER our event. You'll never get this rate in an exotic, exciting hotel in the Disney area, believe me.
Freepers who are coming to our convention plus our generous donors towards convention expenses are listed on the profile page of Chair "Roos_Girl". Remember:

Oh, I know it will be for our Freeper weekend! But think I will bring some candy along too! :)
Thanks for that map. Also see post #28 for a link to an interactive map that you can put your starting address in and get turn by turn directions.
