Guess you heard that 68% of "the youth vote" went to Obama. My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them. I replied with this e-mail:
The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother and other productive wage-earning taxpayers will have their taxes increased and that means less income. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts.
That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job. We can't afford her anymore.
What is the economic effect of Obama's election on you personally? Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc., etc.
By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help. So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for your car, someone to bring you lunch, etc....call 202-456-1111. That's the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States .
I'm sure Mr.Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts or leave cash in an envelope taped to his front door.
It's like this. Those who vote for the president should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, etc.). What Obama voters don't seem to realize is that the government's money comes from taxes collected from taxpaying families. Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.
Congratulations on your choice. For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you've received from us, your mom, Mike's parents and others and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.

My daughter just turned 18 and registered as a Democrat. She will be going to college this fall. Asked her how she intended to pay her student loans back with the “Shovel Ready Job” Barack Obama has planned for her.

The actual "fundamental change" that Obama and his ilk are instituting on the smiling, but ignorant masses who voted for him, is something that will rob them of their liberty...and their birthright as American citizens.
They have sold it for a mess of pottage...and a big mess at that.

Wow - it must be really bad if you have to take your daughter to a vet instead of a regular doctor.
Oh, man - don't go there. Sometimes you can do everything right, and the result is just a disappointment. Parents compete with just too many other forces that sometimes overwhelm all the good work the parents do, no matter how well they do it.
Been there, done that.
I have both of my kids understanding where the money comes from and ain’t no stinkin pres__ent POS! OOP’S I mean TOTUS!!
My grandaughter would have voted for Obama, having just emerged from a lengthy, wierd. gothic way-of-being, but I ascertained that she hadn’t registered, so I didn’t mention to her that in this state you have to register at least three weeks before an election to have a vote. Now I have four years to point out to her what a poor choice Obama was and what to look for in a worthy candidate.

So proud to say that at 24, I am not, never was, and never will be a liberal and that I work hard for everything I have and feel ashamed when I need to ask anyone for help. But you can bet when I do borrow anything, I pay every dime back.
I hate moochers, but I hate moochers that give me as a young woman a bad name, even more.
Most of the youth vote boils down to this:
“I voted for the cool black guy so I could be part of history.”
Ah, the perversion of the God-given drive to be significant.

Wow... I specifically remember in 3rd grade, after an Easter Egg hunt,
declaring my idea of an “excellent plan” for equitable distribution of East Eggs. Put them all in a pile and divide them evenly among the students...
Fortunately, I had a teacher who set me straight with some good examples.
Some lefties haven’t gotten beyond the third grade.

I know it has already been posted on FR before, but in case you missed it, it speaks to what Grandad said in his email.
When I think about the fact that we have the largest graduating high school class in 20 years in 2009 and that they are all on the Obamessiah bandwagon, I fear for them and the future of our country. They are going to learn their lesson the hard way!
