‘They will be putting a GPS installed in your Vehicle. They will know how many miles you drive and exactly where you go.’

Vehicles already have GPS,think ONSTAR. Any vehicle with fuel injection has a computer to run it,except an old manual system, and call me paranoid, but I think “they” can track it. LaHood was talking about putting a chip in the registration tag that goes on the license plate.I think it’s just a ploy to raise the gas tax. They’ll tell us they won’t implement the new mileage tax it they raise the gas tax say $.50 -$1.00 a gallon.

Doesn’t seem to me as if Obama has any real concern about the economy at all.

Of course he doesn’t he never had to really work a day in his life.

Yep, and prices going up in the current climate just means our economy spirals down further & further as people drive & buy less. I really think some of the a@@hats in DC WANT to destroy this country.

If americans have more money, then they can move about more freely.

But why would they if it entails higher and extra-ordinary taxes?

It's just a means to control you. Don't get your panties in a wad. Sheeesh. Haven't you figured out that if the communists take away everything you own and you don't conform to their rigid set of rules and you can't drive away they will know exactly where to send their jack booted thugs to burn you alive.
Far fetched? Ha. Hardly. Let's not forget Waco and what the Clinton administration did to those people.
You don't like their plans? You're next.

Most states have some sort of vehicle inspection every year. Here in Mass., the mileage is entered into the computer and transmitted directly to the state.

Just about all new cars have computerized dashboards which make tampering very difficult.

electric cars are getting cheaper, and are nearly good value for money. when they are good value, market economics will kick in, especially in cities. in 50 years, there will be no smog in cities for this reason

They are preparing for that.

thile44,
Another problem he has is that he has no concept of what it is to be an American. No shared cultural or historical experience with the rest of us to shape his idea of being an American. We all as children here in the U.S. growing up experienced and lived all kinds of things that constitutes our view of this country.(4th of July events, road trips with the folks, county fairs-the list goes on and on.) What was That One doing during those critical childhood years?

Oh yeah, learning passages from the koran in Indonesia!

(Please note, this is not meant as a slam at some of us who for whatever reason did grow up outside the states-missionaries, military, etc. The big difference there is that odds are those folks had 2 parents who were Americans and even though living abroad instilled some concept of the country and maybe even celebrated American holidays in their own little way, to preserve their American identity. Barky, on the other hand...)

Electric cars are going to be a problem.,,,because of the magnetic fields, if interfered with, which will shut down all electricity...what good is an electric car if you can’t charge it. There have been predictions of that coming soon...2012 I believe. I forget the name of it, but it’s an atmosphere entry. Also, there is a claim that a device may be able to interefere with the electromagnetic field over the US, if a certain object is fired into US atmosphere. It can be researched online.

White House Shoots Down LaHood Transit Tax Idea February 20, 2009 05:04 PM ET

Shortly after Secretary of Transportation Roy LaHood raised the idea of a transportation tax based on mileage, rather than gas, the idea was shot down in both a written statement from the department and by White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. LaHood's idea, which would have placed GPS devices in cars, would have taxed people by how much they drive, rather than how much gas they purchase. LaHood said that the plan, which could have raised additional funds for infrastructure, was something "we should look at."

According to a Department of Transportation statement: "The policy of taxing motorists based on how many miles they have traveled is not and will not be Obama administration policy." The idea of a mileage tax is still being floated around by a few states - namely, Idaho, Rhode Island and North Carolina. Oregon has even run a pilot program, and found the program to be viable.

I wouldn’t have an electric car. But they will become popular when cheaper. “2012” is just another mindscrew imo

Oh yeah, I think I remember Obama during the election campaign saying he was for drilling offshore, and even moved the dems to vote in that direction ...to only rescind that idea once elected, allong with clean coal technology, so believe these liars if you want. Obama let’s his appointees float an idea to see the public response, and if the outcry is great enough he shelves it until a later date...when more acceptable!
