One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingy's, Three ....
Written by Melanie Morgan
Thursday, 12 February 2009

I got an early wakeup call from the East Coast Thursday morning. The alert came from the office of Sen. Arlen Specter, the alleged Republican whose office I stormed on Monday. Specter wanted to talk with me, mano y mano. As I write this, I am still waiting for the Senator’s call.

I’m not sure what he wanted to tell me. Lobbying from nonsensical moderates doesn’t work on me. Maybe he wanted to tell me that I shouldn’t barge into his offices and demand to talk with him – even if he is hunkering down with Democrats in a scheme to bilk taxpayers and future generations of billions of dollars.

Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic.com, and I arrived at Sen. Specter's office on Monday with a group of folks who oppose the $1.5 trillion porkulus package. We asked to see Sen. Specter. The office secretary was cold as a street-market codfish. I couldn’t blame her. We were there to have words with her boss. Jim, wearing his Navy cap, asked about the senator's whereabouts, but the secretary wasn't helping. It was distressing to see a wheelchair-bound Navy veteran being treated with such disrespect by a senator's staff.

So I flung open Specter’s back office door, and yelled like I was back in the country hollering for my dog. I yelled that I wanted to talk to somebody. Now!!! Specter’s chief of staff slinked out and gave us a few minutes of his time. We let him know that the country is angry, and we aren’t standing by as they decimate our Constitution and saddle our grandchildren with staggering debt.

Specter, along with two other spineless Republicans, have betrayed our country by joining hands with the socialist-in-chief and his minions, the Democrats. They have hoodwinked those still under the spell of Obamamania, and are force-feeding the rest of us with their spend-and-smile bill that will do nothing to stimulate the economy.

Government spending has never stimulated anything, but the coffers of politicians who get favors from those they’ve greased up with taxpayer money.

I wanted to speak with Sen.Stymie-us Specter and ask him just exactly how $4.8 million for a polar bear exhibit in Rhode Island, $300 million for new cars for government bureaucrats, or $400 million to prevent sexually transmitted diseases will stimulate the economy. I guess you could make an argument that prostitutes might get more jobs if they were free of STDs, but $400 million seems like a lot to promote hookers.

My friends at KSFO radio in San Francisco put out a call to their listeners asking for questions for the Senator, just in case he really did call me. Within a short time, I got more than 1,000 emails with questions for Specter.

I’ll print some here so, if Specter finds the time to read this column, he’ll get an idea about how American taxpayers feel about him and his buddies who are selling America’s soul.

Question 1: “I would like to know if Senator Specter wishes to be remembered as one of three Americans who could have saved our nation from Socialism and FAILED to do so!”

Question 2: “My wife and I (we are senior citizens) were shocked to learn that the current stimulus bill contains a new health bureaucracy that WILL HAVE THE POWER TO ESTABLISH MEANS TESTING FOR THE ELDERLY! THAT MEANS THAT SOME BUREAUCRAT, NOT YOUR DOCTOR, WILL DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A PARTICULAR TREATMENT.  This is untenable and pernicious. It's like throwing away the elderly as not worth the cost of saving their life. “

Question 3:His accepting the "Stimulus Bill" as it reads is a betrayal of his oath!  Stand up for what is right.  Stand up for the principles on which this great nation was built.”

Question 4: “Tell him we are through being nice guys...he is a senior Senator - tell him to be a LEADER instead of a turncoat - or to run as a Democrat next time - you know, like Ethics?  This time we are paying attention and TA KING NAMES!”

Question 5: “What did Arlen Specter get for his vote?  Something for himself or his state?  Matter of fact what did all three get for selling out?”

Question 6: “The majority of American citizens . . . are against this stimulus bill, so why are you voting against us and with the Democrats?  Are you more interested in being looked upon as a centrist and liked by your colleagues than in representing the will of the people?”

Question 7: “Why is the ratio 2/3 pork spending to 1/3 tax cuts? At the very least, it should be the reverse proportions.”

I don’t have room for all 1,000 questions. Maybe Sen. Specter and I can get together for a fried pork lunch so we can chat about the problems. I’ll buy.

I understand your point, but after the frustrations we’ve all been through - Barack’s victory, the Congress controlled by democrats, the ramming through of a massive socialist bill that our great grandchildren will be paying for - it is quite understandable that Melanie & Co. would do something like this.

Sometimes, a primal scream is necessary and needed.

Specter, Snowe, and Collins are all pro-choice “Repubs.”

This display of a total lack of fiscal conservatism is the final nail in the coffin of their Republican membership. What’s to keep them from switching parties next time around?

Nothing. Which is why Steele (with our support) must see to it that these 3 are politically retired.

Spector sold out America for $6.5 billion in cancer research. Trying to save his own miserable hide?

The ironic thing is that the great breakthroughs come from the "outliers" not those that right the best mainstream grant proposals.

“...What she did might make everyone feel better, but it had absolutely no impact whatsoever...”

The point is this: SHE went THERE, and put a visible face on our anger.

Of all the folks who grouse and bitch and complain out here, she actually went there and exposed herself and her family to the potential dangers of messing with those in power. And this is not a game - those folks up there don’t give a rat’s ass whether you or I or the country lives or dies, and if/when they perceive ANYONE as a threat, they can make them disappear and produce the legal documentation to back it up and protect themselves. THAT is the reality of what Melanie went up against. That’s the reality of the world we live in right now - ESPECIALLY with what’s in control right now.

She gave them a face to go with a name; Unless you live in a cave, you KNOW how those vipers deal with public figures that oppose them - they get their media smear machine to crank up and turn the full monty on them, even making crap up when they can’t find anything (e.g., Sarah Palin).

In other words - she put her “Life, her Fortune, and her Sacred Honor” on the line.

She was manning the wall. And yes, it DOES make people “feel good” - it also makes them realize that, yeah, we’re NOT alone, and certainly not “lone wackos”.

Sometimes, all is takes is one man or woman to stand up and fight at the right moment in time.

Your point about how to craft focused and directed questions is valid and good. But there needs to be focused and directed anger too; these idiots are SUPPOSED to work for US. We the People are the Fourth Branch of government. That was the message that was sent.

One must remember the Dems will use any power necessary to control those who do not support a socialist vision for the US.

I have no doubt he would use our military against citizens of this country to prevent any large public mass protests towards the powers that be. The fact the constitution prohibits use of the military in country means nothing. This administration finds the constitution irrelevant and ignorable.

Anyone who doubts Obama is the most dangerous person, not only to America but to the world, since Hitler is fooling themselves.

Our country and our American heritage has never been under as much threat, even from foreign enemies or terrorists, as we are right now.

They will do what AlQuada failed to do, destroy the country. Anyone who dares question or protest the current status quo had better watch their backs and wear body armor.

Does anyone believe this administration would not use deadly force against American citizens exercising their right to gather, protest and question our leaders?

Spector’s web site will not accept emails. Phone doesn’t seem to be working either.

“Question 5: “What did Arlen Specter get for his vote? Something for himself or his state? Matter of fact what did all three get for selling out?””

My friend, they did NOT sell out. This is who they ARE. This is what happens when a political party waters down it’s principles to achieve greater power. You get people IN YOUR PARTY that do not agree with your party.

How true.

The republicans got bit by their own complacency.

If they continue to pander to liberals and liberal ideals they will get bit more.

Apparently Collins is blocking all input through email

The one I sent to her site admin came back to me.

Politicians don't represent the people.

Most of them IMO.

I’m not really objecting to her doing what she did.

What I’m worried about is that I’m the only one pushing a plan that would be far more effective.

Act Now: Stop the Bankrupting of America

In the face of massive citizen outrage across the country, liberals in Washington have ignored their constituents and taken a step toward shoving a big government borrow-and-spend bill down our throats. As the national debate rages on, it has become clear that this bill has nothing to do with stimulating the economy and everything to do with rolling out every bad liberal idea on the shelf.

President Obama and Congress are using the cover of economic hardship to pursue a permanent increase in the size and scope of government. This is by far the biggest debt package in the country’s history. Every dollar borrowed now will have to be paid back with interest.

Don’t be fooled by the ‘compromise’ that was reached in the Senate, the final Senate version is bigger than the one the House passed!

The next step is that both chambers are coming together to resolve the differences between their two versions. This is where the worst pork is always added. We need your help to be vigilant as special interests try to grease the wheels of power once again.

Most of the political class in Washington is set to go along with this no-stimulus approach, because the dramatic expansion in government power means a dramatic expansion in their power, at our expense.

A broad coalition of citizen activists is the only way to stop this bill. Over 350,000 Americans have signed AFP’s NoStimulus petition, and that number is growing every minute. Click here if you haven’t signed the petition yet. Make sure your voice is heard.

We need your help to stop this terrible piece of legislation. Click below to take action and tell your Congressman and Senators to vote NO. And call the Senate switchboard at 202-224-3121 to speak with your Senators!

See I just disagree with this. It’s not Princess Pelosi, it’s Queen Nancy of Syria.
Okay, let’s keep that in mind for next time.

After all, Queen Nancy of Syria announced peace in our time there. (Not that anyone agreed but still, she said it.)

It’s somewhat shocking that Spector would call. I would like to be a fly on the wall for that conversation!
