Vanity: Fox News Says Palin Did Not Know Africa Was Continent, Not Country

Carl Cameron just said McCain campaign shocked to discover Sarah Palin did not realize Africa was a continent, believing instead that it was a country. She did not know the countries in NAFTA. She refused offered preparation for the Couric interview and threw temper tantrums over adverse press.

Wow. Dumping on Sarah in a big way. Shep asked how on Earth the McCain camp could have ended up picking such a dope (not exact words, but sense of what he said).

They did point out she seemed to help the polling numbers.

I knew this was going to be the template, but I was surprised at the level of nastiness on Fox News. Looks like elements of the McCain campaign is determined to make her the scapegoat for the loss. (Couldn't have been anything about the man at the top of the ticket.)

Well, when we clean the slate, we may as well clean it good.

Good riddance to the whole lot of them.

The democrats have already started their next campaign — trying to diminish the competition they fear the most.....PALIN.

Well, Mitt proved he can’t win a nomination, let alone an election.

McCain is a man who has learned to be extremely gracious to his enemies and deadly to his allies.

It doesn’t matter.

What we are seeing is the beginning of the effort to put Sarah away for good. The Dems now see her as a threat. They will do whatever they can to make sure she doesn’t come back.

As for the GOP staffers, they have to explain to themselves how they managed to lose to a communist with no resume.

Carl’s bitter because he’s always on the losing side. He’s a jinx or something (Gore, Kerry and now McCain).

Gee, let’s pick someone to the left of McCain in 2012, that’ll do it!

EVERY TRUE CONSERVATIVE WHO EVER RUNS FOR OFFICE IN THIS COUNTRY NEEDS TO VIEW THE MEDIA AS THE PRIMARY ENEMY AND ACT ACCORDINGLY. DO NOT SIT FOR THEIR INTERVIEWS, DO NOT LET THEM DEFINE YOU, DO NOT EVER LET DOWN YOUR GUARD.

and any true conservatives needs to determine here and now to not give the enemy an audience... and that includes FNC!

so she should be held accountable for her performance.

Yes she should be held accountable for consistently bringing in the 20 to 30k crowds that no other veep has ever done.....

Absolutely agree. I find this highly plausible, considering her performances in the interviews and debate.

She demonstrated a very coloquial knowledge of world affairs. She restricted her answers on foreign policy to energy policy and her ability to "see Russia" from Alaska.

She was not vetted sufficiently. The choice was way too rushed. She may be capable of becoming a great candidate, but I am not going to dismiss this kind of accusation simply because I don't want it to be true.

I don’t think it’s scapegoating. I think it’s Romney people trying to do as much damage to the person they see as their biggest obstacle to the 2012 nomination.

Exactly! After the Romney people joined the McCain campaign, leaks started everywhere. As long as it was just Fred/Rudy/Huckabee people -- no leaks or we would have all known about Sarah. Fred and Rudy were everywhere campaigning for the ticket while Romney showed up occasionally and then made the statement that Obama wasn't a socialist. No thanks to Romney!

I'm sure that McCain's defeat had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they insisted on policy positions that systematically undercut Conservative arguments at every point: support for illegal alien amnesty, putting Obama's lifelong association with Jeremiah Wright beyond the pale, acceptance of global warming as scientific "fact", opposition to Bush tax cuts for "the rich", hostility to evangelical Christians, etc.

As if the problem weren't the message, or the messenger, but the messenger's chosen assistant who wouldn't support such an obviously "winning" platform.

Right. Sure. OK. You betcha.

A (party) riot is an ugly thing. And I think it's just about time we had one.....

I like Sarah, but was not impressed with her saying living adjacent to Russia was somehow foreign policy experience.

If you read the transcript, it was the interviewer who brought up the geographic proximity to Russia and how does that fact influence your thinking. This set-up question was omitted from the aired interview.

See my reply further down. "McCain Campaign" is used collectively. It is kind of weird.

However, what if it is true? I doubt there are any FReepers who would not believe that the Hildebeast threw temper tantrums (and ashtrays, lamps, etc. etc) I don't remember any of those reports being sourced to a particular name. "White House Staffers" sufficed then.

Memo to self: Turn off the TV. Back away from the computer. Talk to your family.

“We need a candidate in 2012 who can easily match Obama’s intellect.”
You mean Mr. “Uhm Uh Uhm Ahh...”?Who thinks there are 59 states?
How about about a 2 pound pot roast to match his intellect.

I’m not buying it. I’ve only watched Fox a little since the horrible news, but it looks like many of them have drunk the koolaid. Never was sure about Carl.

Fox and Friends while getting ready for work. They normally have very conservative types (I miss E. D. Hill though) and Brit Hume in the evening. But now Brit is retiring. That's really the only good shows left on Fox.
