WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Not sure the Obama Campaign can say that he never ‘pressured’ or was ‘just asking’ now...the cat is out of the bag.
Before getting all riled up, the reporter, Taheri, has produced many questionable stories in the past. A number of times his stories turned out to be outright fabrications.
Jeb Bush was at McCain’s Orlando event today. If McCain’s camp is confident enough to have a Bush relative behind him at a televised event, something has happened. Maybe the October surprise is going to be on Obama.
Maybe Barack Obama edited the Harvard Law Review because he was a terrible lawyer. It sure seems that he’s unfamiliar w the rule of law except for Roe v. Wade.

This is outrageous. He has no authority to do this. He is putting his own self interest ahead of US soldiers to manipulate the electorate. This better come up in the debates.

Not sure why everyone is focusing on the writer of the article. Why doesn’t the press just ask the Iraq Foreign Minister,Hoshyar Zebari?

Excellent news and good point! Perhaps this is why Rush was rather timid about the issue, too. You can be certain Clinton Inc. is trying feverishly to get Mr. Taheri an interview on the national news.
There are definitely many, many freepers who have spent more man/woman hours dealing with Congress and POTUS than Barack Obama has. It’s just plain ridiculous but true.

So much for 'politics stopping at our waters' edge'--if true, this is not only outageous--it is treasonous!
We already know that Hussein could give a rat's a** about our troops (after all, he repeatedly gave 'aid-and-comfort' to our enemies during time of war with his repeated calls for immediate withdrawal)--
but this latest outrage would remove all doubt!
