Al-Qaeda Draws New Recruits Via Internet

Al-Qaeda is using the Internet to recruit vulnerable young people to its terrorist network, according to a programme aired on Saudi Arabian TV late on Tuesday.

Umm Osama, the founder of al-Qaeda's first women-only website, al-Khansa, joined several others on the programme to discuss how they renounced jihadist ideology.

Among those who sought a response to this question was an imam from the Medina mosque, Saleh Ibn Awad al-Mudamsi, and the father of a young al-Qaeda suspect held in an Iraqi prison. Read More

Children TV viewers - Chop off his hand

A children's television program broadcast by the recognized terrorist organization Hamas welcomed child viewers to decide the fate of a thieving pink bunny, whom the children sentenced to having his hand chopped off for his crime.

Fanatics want to replicate '47 massacre

United Jihad Council chairman Syed Salahuddin on Friday strongly condemned the reported entry of ‘Hindu suicide squads’ in Jammu province and the announcement by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackary of visiting the region along with 10,000 activists as an attempt to replicate the bloodbath of Nov 1947.

“The motive behind the arrival of extremists,” he said in a statement, “was to launch murderous attacks on unarmed Muslims….to force them flee their homes and rehabilitate non-Muslims in their place to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir.”

RCMP Profits gleaned from counterfeit goods used for terrorism - investigation continues after raids in Brockville and Cornwall malls

CMP said Friday that money from the sales of counterfeit items like handbags and jewelry seized during a raid at the 1000 Islands Mall this week was being funnelled to gangsters and terrorists around the world.

"The danger aspect for these types of products is the funding aspect of the organized crime and the terrorist groups," said Sergeant Michael Harvey of the federal force's Cornwall detachment.

Government tardy securing radioactiive material

The government is taking too long to secure radioactive materials across the country that could get into terrorists' hands, according to a government report.

Radioactive material used for legitimate purposes in medical equipment and food, for instance, could be used to create an explosive device known as a dirty bomb. Experts believe such an attack would be contained to a small area but could have significant psychological impact and have serious economic consequences because of cleanup problems.

Fabric blocks radiation, chemical, biological hazards

Ronald DeMeo places a radioactive wafer about the size of a silver dollar on his desk and waves a handheld Geiger counter over it. The machine chatters wildly, the numbers on the readout spin upward and visitors instinctively lean back.

But when the Coral Gables doctor covers the disc, which is designed for materials testing and quite safe, with a thin piece of fabric, the numbers dive and the noise from the Geiger dips to a low growl.

It's an effective demonstration of Demron -- the radiation-blocking material of DeMeo's invention -- and one that his Coral Gables company, Radiation Shield Technologies, hopes will find a receptive audience in a post-9-11, security-conscious world.

The patented fabric -- just slightly thicker than denim -- is embedded with metal particles and other compounds capable of blocking X-rays, low-energy gamma rays and other types of nuclear emission that might be found anywhere from a doctor's office to the site of a dirty bomb blast.

OPINION: I totally understand.

Too bad they don’t teach the history of our country and actually read the founding documents.

We are not Saudi Arabia and we are not France.

That’s what I was thinking, too.

I was also wondering if the youths were selling stuff (this and that) to make a few bucks.

That Hamas childrens television show is truly evil. A society that values their children so little is really disturbing.

ITRR Warns Of Possible Large Scale Terror Attack
July 18, 2008

The following information has been communicated to National Terror Alert. There has been no confirmation from U.S. Intelligence, Law Enforcement or Dept. of Homeland Security sources regarding the credibility or seriousness of this threat at this time.

An increased state of alertness is urged. Please report any and all suspicious behavior to local law enforcement or the FBI.

From: The Institute of Terrorism Research and Response
Date: 16 July 2008; 1530

Targeted Actionable Monitoring Center (TAM-C) of the Institute of Terrorism Research and Respone:

Intent: To advise of an increased likelihood of large scale terror attack based on credible intercepted communications.

Threat Classification
SEVERE (Level 2) - Available intelligence and recent events indicate that terrorists have an established capability and current intent to mount an attack on the target and there is some additional information on the nature of the threat. It is assessed that an attack on the target is a priority for the terrorists and is likely to be mounted.

Justifications:
Arab language researchers of the Targeted Actionable Monitoring Center have intercepted communications from an organization closely associated with international terrorists, to include al Qaeda.

Previously intercepted communications from this organization has been proven over time to be reliable.

The communications indicated:
• Jihadist terror cells have been dispatched to an undisclosed location to execute a large scale attack.
• The report calls on everyone to pray for the operation’s success.
• For the reason of OpSec, the terrorist organization was not releasing this location of the attack

An analysis of this threat leads the TAM-C to believe that the large attack may include the Perisan Gulf states or Turkey. Such an analysis is based on earlier communications isolating these regions and the need to target westerners or governments that support the United States in these regions.

Conclusion: This is a clear threat on an imminent attack, and all ITRR clients should take this threat seriously. Security management professionals are encouraged to immediately assess their preparedness to detect, deter, mitigate, and respond to an act of terror.

Clients of the Targeted Actionable Monitoring Center have received detailed information and the relevant client case workers will receive information as intelligence unfolds.
Timeline: Through 06 August 2008

Baitullah’s ‘five-day ultimatum’ to NWFP government
July 18, 2008 Friday Rajab 14, 1429

KHAR - Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud has asked the NWFP government to either resign within five days or “prepare itself to face the consequences”. “The NWFP government is not sincere about restoring peace, rather it is responsible for lawlessness in the tribal areas, Hangu and Swat,” TTP spokesman Maulvi Umar quoted Baitullah as saying on Thursday.

The TTP spokesman told Dawn that the Taliban reserved the right to take action against the provincial government if it did not resign in five days. He said the NWFP government was a powerless entity and Taliban would not hold talks with a weak government. Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said people had given the government a mandate for five years.

“This is just nonsense and we know from where they are getting dictation,” he said, adding that the statement of Baitullah Mehsud was regrettable. He said the government would not step down, nor would it follow the dictates of a person or group. The TTP spokesman said the provincial government had approached the Taliban with an offer to hold talks but it had also launched an operation in Hangu and started killing innocent people.

Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman in Swat, Haji Muslim Khan, warned that the peace process in the district would collapse if troops were not pulled out. He told journalists that security forces had arrested 11 Taliban at various checkpoints and demanded their immediate release. He said the Taliban were not terrorists and they had been waging a struggle for peace.
