A possible tornado has struck the Litle (spelling from site?) Sioux Scout Camp in Iowa. Very large response is being reported by media. Large number of injuries.
If you go here
http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.php?product=N0S&rid=TWX&loop=yes
and click on Manhattan KS to enlarge your view, you can see the doppler relative loop showing the tornado vortex passing right over Fort Riley and headed into Manhattan, KS where K-State university is.
I sure hope it is aloft and not on the ground but you can even see the center of the vortex when enlarged....damn I know a lot of people out there.
Confirmed spotter report of tornado on ground 1 mi west of Ogden, so it clearly got the main part of Fort Riley.
I’ve seen that video mentioned but I can’t find the link. Do you have it ?
Major damage and injuries in Chapman, Kansas
Tornado moving into Manhatton, Kansas
That path would have taken it over the historic part, the officers housing, the airfield with the helicopter hangers and aviation staff and over the new Whitside Barracks and the Modulars at Funston. If it passes Ogden on the ground the next thing hit will be the Manhattan airport and then on into the housing developments on the west side of Manhattan, KS. Beyond that by three miles and it is right on the K-State campus.
Many prayers for all involved in this sadness.
