Fred Thompson, the one-time Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Sen. John McCain Friday, calling on the party to "close ranks" behind the presumed nominee

I hope you are right, but it could just as well be the buildup to "I'm not selecting Huckabee because he can deliver the South, no sir, not a bit of it, but because he is truly the best qualified candidate blah blah blah." After all, this is John McCain.
Now its time for McCain to do the right thing and put Fred on the ticket.
Seems fairly unlikely to me. But more likely than some of the other names floating around.
I've noticed all your negative posts on this forum. In the presidential race, you're a defeatist, you trust no one, have faith in no one, not even those good GOP conservatives that are rallying around their party for the presidency.
You never fail to splat your negativism on virtually all the political threads here you can locate during your freeping hours.
Since you have no dog in the presidential fight and undoubtedly will not mark at all at the top of the ballot, why should anyone waste time on you? You've taken yourself out of it, so your opinions are blowin' in the wind except for others who agree with you.
If you have opinions and recommendations on conservatives running for lower offices, by all means post them. I'm all ears.
There's room for every type of opinion on FR....I just don't happen to agree with yours. There's just too much at stake as we fight to try to save our Republic from the marxism and appeasement represented by Hillary and Hussein.
So work your wiles on getting other people here to become disaffected like you. I don't buy it, and I'm happy to say ciao to you, sir.
BTW, did y'all see the thread showing pictures of all the burkha'd muslims in the crowd at Barak bin Obama's rally? One picture is worth a thousand words and a thousand warnings.

ALways gotta find humor in things. :o)
Darkwolf377: “The hysteria resulting from this is truly bizarre.”
I liked your post, but the hysteria isn’t unexpected. People are still in a bit of shock. I felt the same thing when Thompson dropped out, and I realized I no longer had any candidate I could support in the race.
Give them time to calm down and accept the results. I hope they then get up, dust off, and work to:
- fix this ridiculous primary system
- support conservatives in other state and federal elections
- rally the party to stop the socialists this November
I don’t know what DU is. And I know how to read. These blanket statements help no one and do no good, imo.
Now I know why the repub party is in such disarray. all this sniping and the accusations suck. imo.
heh. I’m taking my ball and going home. I sure hope someone gets my meaning on that ;)
This political year has really been an eye opener for me....I always thought there was manipulation of some sort that went on in elections...but this year it’s so blatent,”in your face” like a lot of other gov. stuff. It’s like the “powers that be” are so powerful, they don’t even pretend not to be crooked slime balls. We Conservatives had McCain poke a stick in our eye on more than one occasion and call us racist for our stance on illegals overrunning our nation, costing billions a year, thumbing their noses at our culture and our laws and DEMANDING access to all the social welfare stuff.
That's just one example, there are many decisions made by gov. that are blatently not in Americas' best interest. I guess what I’m trying to say is...we are really in deep doodoo when a large majority of the politicians just write off the will of the people, and don’t even bother to pretend honesty. Talk about corruption...this country is being run by a bunch of sewer rats...and I for one am sick and tired of their games..this election is just sport for them...they already know the outcome.
It looks like NOT.
Most seem to even think that the candidate gets to arbitrarily pick their running mate.
The grownups have decided it's time to circle the wagons against the real enemy - and get a head start on them while they're still squabbling in the mud
Fred had to wait until the candidate he was the stalking horse for got out of the race.
Fred could then go back and renew old friendships with McCain.
What posts? FReepers just love liberals with R's next to their names. Your contention is just categorically false.
Go take your meds, granny.
Thanks for the ping. It comes as no surprise.
Thanks for nuthin’, Fred.
Who knows ? It’s like nursery school just let out around here.
Not surprising. I wonder if Fred will be McCain’s VP?
McCain/Rice vs Obama/Pelosi would be interesting. Would turn out Republicans for sure. LOL.
I want to hear from the FRedHeads for Mitt...
