:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Still in Control

Pervez Musharraf was calm, confident and—despite a flurry of rumors—not about to announce his resignation. Instead, the Pakistani president's "concession" to his troubled nation was an announcement that he would allow Britain's Scotland Yard to help local law enforcement agencies with their investigation into last week's assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking in a nationally televised address two hours after Pakistan's election commission announced the postponement of the ballot to Feb. 18, six weeks later than had been scheduled, Musharraf was notably deferential in his remarks about Bhutto, often invoking her "martyrdom" and extolling her liberal democratic credentials. "May she go to heaven," he said. "I stand for the same things she said." Read More

Jihad news

No matter what Israel does, the rockets from the Gaza Strip just keep coming. Young men like Abdul are the reason why. He studies by day, but at night he builds bombs for the Islamic Jihad. He and his fellow militants can produce up to 100 per night.

Muslim in Canada - killing Canadians best way

A Toronto-area man has been posting messages on the Internet supporting attacks against Canadian soldiers on Canadian soil, drawing the attention of RCMP national security investigators.

Police have advised the Bangladeshi-Canadian that he is under investigation for incitement and facilitating terrorism after he repeatedly called the killing of Canadian troops in Canada "legitimate" and "well deserved."

Thank you. We always travel with knowledge, a wary eye, and suspicions of everyone and everything. Sad that we must do so. This is the world we live in now.

The saddest thing is that I have been more fearful in Detroit and Los Angeles than I have ever been in any foreign country.

Off topic; any word on your son’s tests? He has been in my thoughts and prayers.

I know exactly what you mean about Detroit and LA. I learned to drive a car in Detroit - but that city no longer even vaguely resembles the Detroit of the 1950's and early 60's. LA has become another country of and by itself. Disneyland was many many years ago out in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere. Guess that's telling of my age.

Our son called today. His tests just came in and show to be negative. Thank you and everyone who's been praying for him. He has to retest in a few months, but so far, so very very good. It's the best thing that's happened for us (and him and his little family) in months. We thank God for this, the best news possible. Thanks for asking and caring!

ICE arrests six illegal aliens in continuation of document fraud case
Arrests are related to criminal prosecutions for illegal use of Puerto Rican ID

Georgetown, Del. - Late Monday afternoon special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 6 illegal aliens residing in the Sussex County area as part of a continuing document fraud investigation. The investigation, which started last year, involves the illegal sale and use of valid Puerto Rican birth certificates and associated Social Security cards.

The sale and use of these valid identity documents present an obvious national security and public safety concern, because the documents confer all the rights and privileges of a United States citizen on the individual using them. Using fraudulent identification presents the opportunity to get a job, vote, purchase firearms and obtain passports and other legitimate documents allowing international travel. During Monday’s arrests agents seized four sets of Puerto Rican identity documents.

In November of 2007 ICE agents arrested 4 documents vendors/brokers who are being criminally prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware. The six arrests yesterday bring to 34 the number of aliens that have been arrested on charges of being illegally present in the United States. A total of 105 sets of fraudulently obtained documents have been seized during the investigation.

“This is an ongoing operation and ICE expects to make more arrests. The sale and use of these documents represent a dangerous vulnerability to our immigration and employment verification systems and we will continue to aggressively pursue those participating in or facilitating these violations.” William Lowder, resident agent in charge of the ICE office of investigations in Wilmington. Tuesday’s operation was conducted with assistance of the Delaware State Police, Georgetown PD and other affected local law enforcement agencies in Sussex County.

ICE deports Mexican drug enforcer after he served prison sentence
Wanted by Mexican authorities for providing security for drug cartel kingpins

CLEVELAND - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have deported a man wanted by Mexican authorities who is suspected of overseeing the protection of the Juarez Drug Cartel kingpins, as well as carrying out violent acts against rival criminal members and organizations.

ICE removed to Mexico Robert Orozco-Fernandez, aka “El Che,” through the Brownsville, Texas, Port of Entry on Tuesday morning. He was handed over to Mexican authorities.

Members of ICE’s Cleveland Criminal Alien Program (CAP) placed Orozco-Fernandez into ICE custody on Jan. 14 after he completed his prison sentence with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Northeastern Ohio Correction Center. According to information provided by authorities in Mexico, Orozco-Fernandez is wanted for organized crime, crimes against health (drug-related crimes); stockpiling firearms and ammunition, and money laundering.

Orozco-Fernandez entered the United States in El Paso, Texas, in 1978. He was arrested and convicted in California in 1999 for conspiring to aid and abet to distribute controlled substances; he was sentenced to 135 months in prison, with a five-year suspended release. While incarcerated, an immigration judge in 2000 ordered his deportation to Mexico.

“This case is yet another example of the close cooperation between foreign authorities, Mexico and ICE, to locate and apprehend a dangerous individual,” said Vincent Clausen, field office director for the ICE Detention and Removal Office in Detroit. “ICE’s Criminal Alien Program helps make communities safer, and serves as notice for international criminals that the United States is not a safe haven to avoid the law in their home countries.” Clausen’s area of responsibility includes the states of Ohio and Michigan.

ICE’s Criminal Alien Program focuses on identifying criminal aliens who are incarcerated within federal, state and local facilities. CAP ensures that these criminal aliens are not released into the community after they serve their prison sentences. Final orders of deportation are secured before their sentences are completed, which minimizes the time they spend in ICE detention.

By Tom Fitton
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, January 31, 2008

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you a 2006 Border Patrol report highlighting incursions into the United States on the part of Mexican government officials, including armed members of the Mexican military. Now, we’ve got the latest information from 2007. And it is downright frightening.

The report, titled, “Mexican Government Incidents – 2007 Fiscal Year Report.” describes 25 confirmed incursions in 2007 along the U.S. - Mexican border involving Mexican military and/or law enforcement personnel. Among the incidents cited:”
