New Fear Leads Both Legal, Illegal Latinos To Leave Pr. William Co. (VA)
The Washington Compost ^ | 22 October 2007 | N.C. Eizenman (Washington Post)

Posted on 10/22/2007 3:04:04 AM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Supporters of the anti-illegal immigration measure adopted in Prince William County last week have argued that its most important purpose is to send a powerful signal to the county's mostly Latino illegal immigrants that they are no longer welcome.

It appears the message has already been received: Terrified that new policies will lead to mass deportations, illegal immigrants and the many legal immigrant relatives and friends who live with them have been moving out of Prince William ever since July, when county supervisors first approved the plan's outline.

Well I'm crying a river of tears for these poor souls. /s

Prince William County has "totally turned its back on us," says Jose Ventura, a mason. So he's moving himself and his business to Maryland.

"I feel like when this county was growing, when they needed us, they welcomed us Latinos with open arms," he said. "But now that the county is all grown up and times are hard, it's totally turned its back on us. They are so ungrateful."

Awwwwwwww.

Yup. They get no sympathy about the illegals getting the boot, so they start in about how “fearful” the legal aliens are.

The reporting of the recent crackdown on illegal aliens in Price William County shows how biased the ComPost is. The other papers, such as the Wash Times and Examiner has been following this issue closely for months, whereas the ComPost just comes out with a press release from La Raza.

As long as they move to the safe haven county of Fairfax and NOT into Loudoun. Let Fairfax pay for their follies.

My read on this photo

  1. José is legal immigrant from Mexico
  2. He works hard
  3. He has done very well and that's his new truck behind him
  4. He has made very big money by employing illegal aliens
  5. He is the sub-contractor cut out who directly employs and pay cash to his illegal alien crew or crews
  6. Housing is sort of over so not as much business for José so what's a semi-illiterate to do?
  7. Tune in next week for a new chapter in this telenovela

Well you're probably not far off as to how he made his money. Here's WaPo's explanation of Jose's status:

Jose Ventura, a Salvadoran mason renting an apartment in Manassas, cites similar reasons for his decision to move not just his residence but also his business to Maryland.

Ventura, 38, who came to the United States seven years ago and then received the temporary protected status because of the earthquake in his homeland, smiled ruefully as he recalled the sense of possibility that suffused Prince William back then. "Oh, it was so great. There was so much work," he said.

But a slowdown in the construction industry has forced Ventura to cut his workforce to 15 people. Meanwhile, his plan to buy a new house and offset some of the mortgage by renting some of the rooms backfired after county residents called for a crackdown on overcrowding. A few days ago, the bank foreclosed on the property, wiping out all $80,000 of his savings and leaving him $20,000 in debt.

The supervisors' unanimous approval of the anti-illegal immigration resolution struck Ventura as the last straw.

G-
I was thinking but did not post that Jose came here illegally but got his immigration status "legalized". You have proved this with his bullshit "temporary protected status".
Jose is a big deal, a big padron and jefe. His game plan was to provide food and lodging to illegal aliens from El Salvador who are on his masonry work crew. Just about all transactions done in cash with few employment taxes paid

I'd love to put the IRS on his tail and see them haul off his bigass new truck

I said he was Mexican but that was dumb of me. Central Americans were the first to flood the DC area. The Mexicans are not so numerous

I was having such a hard time finding work," said Pubeac, speaking on his cellphone as he raced around picking up presents for his five children back home.

If comprensive immigration reform had passed, those five children would be joining him in the US along with other relatives.

We've always said, cut them off from the Great American Mammary Gland, and they'll leave. And they are.

The WP has been hammering this issue for months just like they did the “macaca” gaff by Allen. They are trying to spin it that the Reps are bigots and nativists. Fortunately, their distorted reporting is actually backfiring as far as the local residents are concerned. They believe their “lyin’ eyes” and not the WP spin. This is the defining issue in this year’s VA state and local elections. I hope and pray we send the rest of the country and the political elites a message in two weeks. A lot is at stake.

But, but... “we can’t deport 12 million people!”

We won’t have to.

Just like Sanfransicko’s homeless policy of giving them all cash leads to more homeless and more problems -

let those other localities suffer the problems until they, too, enact similar measures.

Good luck, I know it’s going to be an uphill battle.

You would be surprised. People are concerned about their schools, hospitals, crime, and real estate values. Even the Dem officials are now backtracking on their approach. They understand that they can't spin their way out of a growing problem. Prince William, Loudon County, Herndon, and Manassas are just the tip of the iceberg. Illegal immigration is the elephant in the room and growing larger every day. Stay tuned.
