What's with Laura Ingraham? This morning Peggy Noonan wrote an op ed which included the following criticism of President Bush:
"Every major domestic initiative of his second term has been ill thought through and ended in failure. His Iraq leadership has failed. His standing is lower than any previous president's since polling began.",
Laura loved Noonan's op ed. Go gal, kick him when he's down.
Ingraham is taking herself too seriously. Yesterday she was aghast over security chief Chertoff's "gut feeling." I don't know why. I would appreciate any source regarding security even Chertoff's gut. She also found Chertoff less than handsome. What a cheap shot.
Ingraham lost me when she went over to the dark side on the Foley scandal. She thought Hastert should have resigned for not protecting male pages from gay congressmen.
Bill Kristol, yesterday on her show, suggested that now is the time that talk show hosts should support the president. His comment went right over her head.
Laura Ingraham blew a gasket when Bush nominated Harriet Myers for the Supreme Court. She has been less than supportive of Bush ever since, IMO.
She’s right. Where we should support the Pres is on him defending the need to not pull the troops out.
But Pres Bush does need to step up his leadership and communication skills 100% to sell that the surge is working. I do not know if that is possible
If people pay attention, something different is occurring now, and success is abundant. Too bad the politicians aren't paying attention either. The military is killing a lot of terrorists. Iraqis are joining in the fight and turning away from AQ. The government there met almost half of their benchmarks in a few short months.
“Let’s see what the callers think - have I gone too far over the edge? Let’s goooooooooooooo toooooooooooo ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh put the calls up on the boaaaardd/line up the callls guyyyyyysssss...”

She’s “thrown the baby out with the bathwater” as they say. Happens all the time.
How exactly does the Republican Party successfully recover itself in time to truly “win it all” on November 4, 2008? The U.S. will be in a long-term mess if the Democratic Party ends up taking over everything from January ‘09 on.
Like I said, nobody's a saint. Insult someone enough and you're bound to alienate even your greatest supporters.
Boy, maybe she will be so ticked off shell join Air America.
?
When the President and others that we have put into power stop calling us Vigilantes, Racists, etc.. etc.. ad nauseum, and begin to do what the hell we sent them to washington to do, instead of pandering to illegal invaders, the left and any other NON American, NON english speaking maggots, then I’ll be worried about what somone on my side says that attacks him.
Bush left me a long time ago. He can either return or he can stay with the rest of the Republicans lost in the wilderness.
Noonan's comments were right on target, and it's been big-government globalists like Kristol who have been cheerleaders of the worst initiatives this administration has pursued -- including the Iraq war and the immigration amnesty debacle.
I don’t like Noonan either. I find her pretentious, supercilious, and vindictive. She loved Bush until he turned down her offer to become a speech writer for him. She quit her job at the WSJ to offer her services and he turned her down. She has been criticizing his communication skills ever since.
I sometimes enjoyed her criticisms of Bill Clinton, but I never liked her flowery, overly wordy style of writing.
OMG...I admire Peggy's writing but you have zinged her hard...hitting her with a nasty blast of truth.
Hey...you're not bad in the Peggy Noonan/Maureen Dowd department yourself!
I used to listen online. She has really turned me off--it's all about her these days. I think talk show hosts follow polls worse than politicians do. Easy for Laura to support Bush when things are going well; as soon as things are not, she switches. She used to think that fighting Islamofascists was the issue of our time---apparently now she thinks it's immigration. Maybe she just forgets what her most important issue is from week to week.
Agree bump.
Tell ya what, when President Bush stops trying to sell the people of the United States out to the Mexican government, and gets serious about border protection, Ingraham won’t have to rightly rake him over the coals.
Its just like Vietnam, the fighting will continue as long as AQ and the Iraqi insurgents want it to continue. We cannot “win” in Iraq because we cannot impose our will on AQ or stop the terrorism.
As for the Iraqi’s stepping up, you mean there’s “light at the end of the tunnel”. Damn, I’ve heard that before from LBJ and Nixon.
