Terror Arrests in Fort Dix Plot FORT DIX, N.J.
May 8, 2007 - Six ethnic Albanians have been arrested in a plot to storm the Fort Dix installation in Burlington County.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Cherry Hill. They will be arraigned later today in federal court. Officials say it will happen in either in Camden or Newark.
Investigators say the suspects planned to use automatic weapons to storm the base and kill solders. The men were lured into a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s from an arms dealer, who was secretly cooperating with the FBI.
Officials say the suspects worked on a number of targets, including the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, and several Coast Guard stations.
Federal agents made the arrests when the suspects zeroed in on Fort Dix.
Officials say some of the suspects were caught on tape.

A tip helped authorities arrest six New Jersey men Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10s sister station WNBC in New York.
Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports.
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.
Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

NEW YORK -- Six men from New Jersey have been arrested in an alleged terror plot against soldiers at Fort Dix, according investigators.
Investigators said the men planned to use automatic weapons to enter Fort Dix and kill as many soldiers as they could at the N.J. base. Fort Dix was just one of several military and security locations allegedly scouted by this group, authorities said.
Investigators told Newschannel 4's Jonathan Dienst that these arrests are the result of a tip to the FBI and use of an informant to track the suspects. The terror suspects traveled over the last several months from New Jersey to the Poconos where they practiced firing automatic weapons, investigators said.
Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations like Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth and several Coast Guard stations before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, including some which focuses on counter-terrorism....
CNN... who ignored Saddam feeding folks to the woodchipper, gassing, you name it... to report, THE NEWS.
clue:
If it’s an attack on a military facility, it’s terror... no matter who does it.
Damn.
I doubt it was homegrown. They were trying to buy AK-47s. Home growners would be trying for M-16s.
Yeah right. And I suppose they all speak perfect English.
International cell phones make international communications instantaneous, and international bank transfers? Happen in small increments ALL the time.
I get such a kick out of CBS's premature press ejaculations based on the Democrat propaganda line, even before any true facts are known.
re:
Carolee Nisbet, a public information officer at Fort Dix, said: I understand that they werent just targeting Fort Dix, that it was a multiple-base plan to attack several bases in the Northeast. She declined to elaborate.
At the base this morning, Nisbet said: They are going to make the security procedures more stringent, but were not going to increase the threat level. We are just going to make people more aware of their surroundings.
—Why do I hear our NYC slogan, “If you see something, say something? Don’t increase the threat level? More stringent...
I don’t know about you... but I need more ammo.
Well of course it is. America is fertile soil for raising Bosnian Muslim terrorists. 'Bosnian' is just a name and doesn't have anything to do with any foreign terrorists. It's also about time we stopped making these silly assumptions about terrorists just because they turn out to be Muslims. They were probably mad about Waco. /s
I wasn’t directing it at you. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that you were quoting the MSM agit-prop. My comment was directed at the idea behind it.
Actually, Range 14 on Ft. Dix is a public range on weekends and once or twice during the week. Would have enjoyed having live terrorist targets.
Amen.
I agree with you. I am for deporting the lot of them. I don’t want “our friend’s the Saudi’s” sending in anymore of their students here. I don’t want to hear of planned but stopped attack on schools or wondering if my child is safe. I want the people to have a d@mn VOICE. Nor do I want Bush sneaking in anymore Muslims. I forget where I heard we are going to take in some displaced ones. I want it back the way it used to be....Quite unlikely to happen unless we as a people stand up and say we have had enough! Even then I don’t know if it will matter. Non terrorist indeed! They think we are all fools.
Correct... Mall shooting, 18 year old Bosnian Muslim “refugee”.
CNN is made up of morons...
I am not sure...I forget whose who anymore between all the lies & spin. I am so mad about this non terrorist BS. Would it have been terrorists if they had managed to kill people?? GRRRRR
That my friend is a cell.
I doubt it was homegrown too but not for the reason you state. No one buys M-16s - rather they get AR variants. But AKs are cheaper and would be the weapon of choice. Maybe they were on a budget.
Ft Dix has also quietly become one of the largest, if not the largest federal prison in the US. I wonder if that was a factor here?
