We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
The Search Ends Here :
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His day is marching on.
I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Since God is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free;
[originally
let us die to make men free]
While God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on.
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave,
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

I just checked my FR e-mail, which I do about once every five years. There was an e-mail from Peach, written right before she got banned, while she was really raising the roof here. I figured, “I’ll open it and read her insults just for a laugh.” We were always at war, verbally.
It was classy and it was very kind. It was one of the nicest e-mails I’ve ever received, any time, any place. Go figure.
Please do this far right winger a favor at your new site and thank her for me. Tell her I said God bless her, and that that e-mail was very well received. I would consider it a favor. Thanks.
“Ive often wondered why ... rudy dropped out in 2 - 000 lazio went unsuccessfully against hillary instead !”
He was way behind in the polls and knew he would lose.
He was afraid to run against Hillary in 06 because he new he would still lose.
Rooty is a gutless puke.
*smiling*
I find this appropriate too:
I Pledge Alligiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which is Stands,
One Nation Under God, Individible,
with Liberty and Justice for All.
Individible = Indivisible
Regarding tenure and effort as security...
There is a whole body of works on “Gift Economies” that have been common in Third-World countries and more recently applied to the Open Source Software movement. A lot of ‘gift economy’ premises are valid about FreeRepublic.
There is a somewhat antithetical concept of “The Tragedy of the Commons” — the concept that people will take selfishly advantage of common areas, various liberties, etc. at the expense of others.
FREEDOM is like that too.
The bigger picture is that, while there is a sense of family and loyalty that hopefully can exist, Liberals and Unions focus primarily on tenure. Conservatives focus on merit.
And the loyalty / tenure-AS-merit premise must be examined carefully in a situation where the ‘family’ very likely has Manchurian Trojans at the dinner table, including some that can wait for a decade before germinating.
It’s a shame that some good people who get too testy get banned. It’s a greater shame that they don’t see the truth and become genuine Conservatives!
But it would be foolish to imagine that all will see the light. The reality is that some seek to neutralize Conservatives. To give them a continued soapbox for subversion is self-destructive, unilateral disarmament in the ideological war.
Hi Dita,,,gunna read all them posts ??...;0)
(bet she does)...;0)
Your surprise that she wrote you a kind email...well that surprises me.
Maybe I'm the naive one here.
I thought that our shared disdain for the Clintons served as a strong foundation.
The vast majority of the Freepers that have registered at Wideawakes did so because they were unhappy with the changing tone here.
I think many of them thought of WA as an extension of our Smokey Backroom...but maybe I'm wrong.
Please know that you describing me as a liberal freeper has the same effect as using a racial slur.
I don't like it at all. It hurts because I HATE liberals.
Roger Dat,,,If folks just put the two together...
I had to put on a Scott pack to wade in here. The smoke, flames and the stench of the opused corpses are suffocating. A liberating experience.
"Free Republic is having a Goldwater moment so America might live to have a Reagan moment."
Exactly. It needed to be done. Let it be done.
The constitutional conservative base needs to unite - now.
All those who wish to join us -come on in the water is fine ;>)

Only thing is....beware the smell of ozone.
I have posted several times on FR that I thought George Bush was borrowing his “ownership society” mantra from Garrett Hardin. It’s one of the simplest and yet profound analogies.
The Tragedy of the Commons
Garrett Hardin (1968)
The Tragedy of the Commons, Garrett Hardin, Science, 162(1968):1243-1248.

Flame on? So be it.

That is a VERY good attitude!
I have no doubt that we'll get that happy family feeling once again, if Hillary Clinton and Bubba move back into Pennsylvania Avenue.
Our differences of opinion on various issues will once again take a back burner and we'll hopefully look back at this and laugh...together.
I’m actually pretty pragmatic, and supported Bush, Bush 2, and currently support Fred Thompson. I supported Buchanan over Dole in 1996, and of course Reagan in 1976, 1980, and 1984, but I am to the right on everything except censorship issues. I’m a live and let live Christian.
But why would you be surprised at my shock over that e-mail, given my own nine years here, and the adversarial relationships I’ve had with the entire liberal FR gang? I don’t think we’ve ever said anything nice to one another. All the posters that you said were “classics,” I think it was you anyway, to me have been regular thorns and nuisances. We never are on the same side of anything. Or so it seems. And that goes back to Clinton and the beginnings of this site.
So if you aren’t a lib, fine, but how about we agree on some things once in a while, and I don’t mean the WOT.
And I do hope you let Peach know I appreciated it, and that she was banned before I could get back to her.
