Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

“Well, Mr Giuliani has the exact same position on abortion, gay rights, gun control, illegal aliens, etc, as Mrs. Clinton so if you vote FOR him, you’re voting for abortion. There goes your vaunted pro-life and conservative bona fides.”

Well, you have to vote for somebody. With HRC you get abortion — plus all the rest.

I guess you are saying you would let Hillary Clinton win before you would vote for someone who has a pro-abortion record.

I hope it doesn’t come to that, but if it does I suspect you will change your mind by November 2008.

Or in the years after.

“it was an honest question”

Quit play games. You come on to THIS particular thread and start dropping all of these quotations from years ago is a childish attempt at smearing him by a low attempt to attack his credibility.

So, your pro life, a conservative, what is your motivation? Personal? Jealousy of this great site? Do tell.

“No, you somehow remind me of open sores and dementia, as depicted in those films.”

Once again, the rules against personal attacks go out the window.

Why don’t you go stalk someone your own size? I believe mental dwarf tossing is illegal in my state.

Why don’t you just write your opus now & be done with your freepercide by cop?

I'm baffled by the need for more blood being spilled here. Will it ever be enough?

You can probably include me on your list to be slaughtered since I haven't made up my mind yet. Nobody is forcing me to, yet, except some folks at FR.

Who is your candidate, or is this just an exercise in ridding FR of supporters of one candidate?

I need to know the current groupthink of whom to support. Somehow scrolling through 7000 posts I missed it.

I thought I got to make up my mind next year.

I was merely pointing out what others were thinking but dared to not note, that FR has been through this before.

You don’t want to know the truth, skip my posts.

But I didn’t exactly join “the Posse.” I created it.

That's like admitting that you invented herpes.

Pro-life is not "current groupthink"--nor groupthink at all--on FR.

These threads really do get Orwellian PDQ, don’t they?

And so many are so eager to don the hobnailed boot. It’s very creepy.

There are good reasons to have a pro abortion, anti gun open border POTUS from the Democrat Party rather than from the Republican Party not the least of which is that a Republican Congress would fight the Democrat tooth and nail while they would tend to acquiesce to the wants of the Republican.

Personally, I'll never vote for Rudy Giuliani for anything, Hillary or no Hillary. Nor can I understand how any ostensible pro lifer can. He crapped on his religion and his personal beliefs to become Mayor of New York. He was pro life when he lost to Dinkins and then used unborn babies as steps up the ladder to the Mayorship. A disgraceful human being.

And as I noted above, your “mission statement” for FR from 1999 doesn’t even mention it.

Where can we find that mission statement? I've been relying on the one from 2004, which I am happy to see is current, and clearly representative of the way this site is being managed. And yes, it does specify that Free Republic is pro-life.

Why would he form an exploratory committee if he is already planning to declare in May? It would have so little time to gear up before becoming defunct.

I dunno. Why would I lay out the clothes I'll wear tomorrow when I'm not going to wear them to bed tonight?

To me, it's an indication he won't declare in May. I certainly could be wrong, but if that's his intention, he should declare an exploratory committee yesterday.
