Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

All Drama, no Queen.

Or is it all Queen, no Drama.

If you are so distraught by the choices made here, maybe you should spend less time where your wisdom and greatness isn’t appreciated and more time amongst those who will show you the deference and respect you obviously you deserve.

I hear The Huff & Puff Post has an opening.

Nope they infiltrated, they’re dividing, and presently they are conquering.

Hi. I've been following your posts on this thread. I understand why you might feel that way, but I think you might be mistaken.

I think this is just a 'mob mentality' thing, the 'peasants with pitchforks' style of political interaction.

I think JimRob and his folks honestly believe this is a great crusade. That abortion is like slavery.

I think this sight is changing from an open discussion political forum where the best idea wins. Now it's becoming a 'social conservative action site' where dissenters are treated like something akin to slaveholders.

Good to know, thanks.

I hate to see an anti-freeper in the making.

Your words from a previous post...

"IF Rudy is the Republican nominee and he is running against PURE EVIL, the responsible conservative will vote for Rudy."

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I don’t know you very well, though we have posted to each other a few times. So you admit that you are socially liberal, or at least moreso than most here. And that’s fine and dandy. No reason for you to be chased off, in the slightest. Heck, there are even atheists here and lotsa little “l” libertarians.

The difference you are seeing now is that for the first times, at least since FR was created, a social liberal is the frontrunner for the GOP nomination. It was easier to gloss over past differences in candidate preferences because they all at least gave lip service to the post Reagan GOP platform. And none had a certifiably hostile record on the 2A, and none would be caught dead at a NARAL event. Add onto that the illegal alien explosion, and Rudy’s awful record in this regard, and you have the recipe for what is happening now.

Those that put GOP winning above sticking to GOP conservatism are going to get hammered when they support Rudy. Not because we want to destroy the party. We want to save it from irrelevance. Nothing good can come out of abandoning any part of Reaganism: whether its the desire for smaller government, tax cuts, robust military, support for life issues, or constitutionalism.

You really shouldn't be looking to "buy" a candidate.

It's a figure of speech. I honestly don't have enough money to "buy" a candidate.

Have a nice day.

While you're praying for him do try to realize that you are a big part of why he turned from being the warrior he once was.

Far be it from me to speak for Registered either, but if I was him, I'd be offended by that remark.

Don't mean to speak for him, just a surmise on my part because it is true for me.

Iron sharpens iron. If what you're made of is that weak, something or someone else besides me would have just brought out the flaws.

Please define social conservative. If you say abortion you are wrong. Abortion is killing another human and that relates to law and order and basic human rights.

Free Republic is not going to "run off everyone".

Um -- if FR becomes dominated by folks who flame anyone who disagrees with them . . . most folks will vote with their feet.

I believe we rose to greatness cuz this was an open discussion board where folks felt free to speak up when they disagreed. JimRob was very good about warning even the best conservatives when they became abusive, when they flamed innocents for having different opinions.

I'm afraid I see things might be a slight bit different now.

I respect JimRob. He's built a great site here. This is by far the best message board software on the web. What he does with his site is completely fair.

I'm just afraid of losing that openness that I believe got us here in the first place.

If someone is pro abortion, but in every other way is conservative economically and socially, are they a liberal? Honest question. I’m not pro-abortion.

Actually, abortion is worse than slavery. You can recover from slavery, by simply being freed. You can't ever recover from being dead.
