Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

You really should see the doctor so you can get that stick removed - you know, the one up your arse

Thankfully, a stick up the "arse" can always be removed.

Sadly for you, modern medicine has yet to find a cure for sh*t for brains.

That was the first big rift between FReepers after 9/11. What are some others? Harriet Miers comes to mind. And Dubai Ports.

There was of course Terri Schiavo. Also the legendary libertarian/drug warrior battles, which in retrospect were particularly ironic being that the freepers from both sides of those threads are now pretty much all united against Rudy.

I have a bit of problem with this Reagan's rule thing though because to me it's a bit like taking a passage out of the Bible and applying to any situation you want to apply it to. I think the the rule can be misused and it wasn't intended by Reagan to be invoked under all circumstances.

You are right but the invective in some of the comments disturbs me. I believe a person can state an opinion without venom.

I do love the hypocrisy of someone decrying JimRob using the term "a**wipe" and then making a post like that.

But I've noticed hypocrisy and double standards do come naturally to you Rudy boosters.

That's what happens when you have no core values other than political power and an overwhelming desire to snort the aroma from Rudy's seat cushion like lines of cocaine.

No has been banned for their convictions; they were banned for their dishonesty and incivility in promoting them.

Incivility. Hmmm.

Is that sort of like telling someone, "Up yours, asswipe," when all they've done is lay out a case for their candidate?

That outburst was unfortunate, but your premise is false because 'laying out a case for their candidate' was not 'all they had done'.

These threads have had many heated discussions and unfortunately there have been many excesses and instances of frustrated people on all sides 'losing their cool' throughout this and other related threads. And, as I pointed out, great latitude was given to this. It required the combination of both the incivility AND the dishonesty to reach the critical mass.

Before you get too far along, try looking at 6604.

I did earlier this morning.

Just sayin’

Yeah, he's being half-clever. He was insinuating that whole 'JimRob taking their money' routine for a while, now he's doing a bit of zigging and zagging:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1821435/posts?page=2330#2330

I'm going to try not to post to the guy, if he's working on his opus I don't want to slow him down.

Borders. Gun control. Free trade. The Fair Tax...

Travis got the boot for wanting more border enforcement and refusing to stop calling FROBLS "Traitors" and "Quislings".

I still remember some of the conspiracy folks getting the axe around the Y2K time frame. They were entertaining. Stupid. But entertaining...

It’s possible, at least some of the time.

But it’s not easy.

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have.

Ronald Reagan

This is a weapon we need to get out, dust off, and start to use.

I understand your sentiment about the ‘zigging and zagging’,but since 6604 showed me he had some ‘clarity’ in his error, I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

But things can, usually do, change.

“all they’ve done is lay out a case for their candidate?”

That is a lie.

Read again genius.

This 6000 plus thread is a case study in wacko Giuliani liberals casting themselves out of FR. They most certainly did not “just” lay out a case for their candidate...they spewed misinformation and “lies by ommissions” to smear people like Ronald Reagan and current conservative candidates as part of a desperate tactic to convince real conservatives that we have to vote for a liberal abortionist gun grabber to beat Hitlery.

Trust me. 1) there are LARGE numbers of pro-life people who quietly support him---quietly because they get tarred and feathered in places like this. I just spoke to several people Friday evening, of which perhaps 2/3 are the type you describe who would all, reluctantly, vote for Rudy; and

2) for the "ultras," who will "never compromise . . ." blah, blah, Rudy would pick up a large number of the so-called independents and Reagan Democrats who do NOT like our social positions, but do not trust the Dems on the WoT.

I say again, he's not my first choice, but just as it is wrong to portray him as a conservative, it's also wrong to underestimate his abilities as a candidate.

quidnunc had been making slimy anti-Fred posts for some time.

So either you're too lazy to get to the truth, or you don't care to.

Dear idiot,

The “asswipe” comment came at just 56 posts. Everything that happened after post #56 is immaterial to that particular episode.

Add that you think daily kos is conservative.

Maybe that’s why the rudybots think rudy is conservative.

Exactly. They claim Reagan signed a liberal abortion bill in 1967.

They fail to mention that bill did not legalize abortion on demand, but abortion in cases of rape, incest and the health of the mother - the last clause got abused by doctors, which led Reagan to regret signing it.

However, those exceptions, when adhered to, are within the views of many in the pro-life movement.

Whereas Rudy gets a 100 percent rating from NARAL, so any Rudy booster who questions the pro-life bona fides of conservatives is just being a rank hypocrite.
