Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Fred Thompson is a certain loser? Please elaborate!

Oh, and when you do, please explain why running a northeastern lib against a northeastern lib is the only way we can win.

The people who pushed GWB over the top in 2000 and 2004 were Catholics and many of them ONLY vote GOP because of abortion. If the GOP no longer has a pro-life platform they will no longer vote for the Republicans.

As I said before, nobody had to come here and attack JR. People who did knew what they were doing. Suicide by Cop. Don’t know why they wanted to be banned, but on THIS thread the bannings were begged for.

"(And I wasn't around in Buchanen days, so your dopey hypothesis about me falls flat)."

My point was that Freepers other than flaming Giuliani supporters have been dropped. BTW Buchanan is still around and Freepers, perhaps even you, bash articles he writes. Giuliani is not a sacred cow to be worshipped by Freepers.

If I remember his last Opus, it was very moving. At least, I think he’s the one. It was a while ago, I could be wrong.

You don’t agree that EVie’s sliming of FT is sliming, merely relaying the facts, huh? Well, we’ll have to disagree then because he is a fifth columnist disruptor, intent upon nothing but dividing us and making FR completely irrelevant.

It's an old baseball maxim for a pitcher to strike out the guy in front of him, and not worry about the guy on base.

I know enough about baseball to know that is false. Wrong. Try another sport.

Yes, I'm aware of the deadly islamic jihadist enemy... duh... why do you join those who play one aspect of conservatism against another? Social conservatism does not oppose the War on Terror. I don't get your point, if you have one.

I think there is too much personalization of the discussion. I try to just ignore the personal parts of comments, unless they are directed at my character and then I try to respond to the attacks without responding in-kind.

I have been known to do some “personal attack” by sarcasm and redirection. Maybe I was clever enough in those cases to do so, or maybe it was inadvertant. It’s helpful I guess if my adversaries don’t know which.... :-) But it’s all in playful fun, I don’t generall dislike anybody I correspond with here, no matter how much I disagree with their views.

You perfectly get my point. No one can score if you strike out the batter in front of you. And we have an enemy who trumps ALL other issues right now. ALL of them.

I'm pro life. I'm pro my life, and my family's lives, first and foremost. If Rudy's the candidate, he'll get my FULL support.

Opinions on FR have been tracking left since the 2004 election cycle. There a lot of long-time FReepers for whom party trumps principle, and who believe that the only way to win is to abandon conservative ideals.

Anyway, I’m sure most of them can come back after a few days if they desire.

Don’t be such a jerk. The Congressman that has FR all agog, is Duncan Hunter...but you already knew that.

I see how you “Patriots” took care of things last election. Because of you “Patriots” I have to hear the words SPEAKER PELOSI on my TV everyday, so please, get off your high horse.

PKM has posted on another site that she is officially working with the Rudy campaign now. It’s not just with the party, she’s said so herself. You ought to know Miss Marple since you too post there. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
jsu, a while back you accused me of "impuning the integrity" of PKM when I asked her if she was working for the Rudy campaign.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1799592/posts?page=103#103

Now that she has confirmed that she is in fact working for the Rudy campaign (still don't know for sure if she was at the time of my question to her as she has never bothered to respond), does this fact call her integrity into question relative to her posts on this forum?

I oppose rudy with everything i’bve got...but if we have three major candidates in 2008, Hillary wins. That is not an option

Yes.

Any so called conservative candidate who isn't serious enough to run in the Republican primary isn't serious enough to get my vote as a third party candidate in the general election.

Jim Rob even specifically stated that people who supported Rudy just needed to be honest about it.

I know, I know... "Just sign zee papers..." A loyalty oath for a long-time Freeper. Disgusting.

Yes, you could do all that, or you could figuratively pull your head out and realize that those who got themselves banished did so of their own accord. Several were practically begged to cease & desist.

I repeat: No one was “purged” - that is simply nonsense.

No one has banned the discussion of candidates or issues, but management has insisted that a return to the stated intent of the house was necessary.

So, okay, you’ve joined the dividers and you sneer at social conservatives. What else is new?

Do you believe that NONE of the other candidates in the Republican field would fight the War on Terror?

I don’t get the posters who say that Rudy is the “only hope” to fight the WOT. He won’t win the nomination anyway.
