We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
Surely you can understand that Jim is trying to save our country from the likes of Rudy Giuliani?Oh, I understand Jim Rob's motives. And I believe those ideals and philosophies to be laudable and commendable.
However, this ex-foreign national former armed-forces participant, has a great reservation in all this.
If "they" be FOR Guilliani, McNumbNuts, and Romney, then who are WE? If THAT's the epitome of the Republican Party, then who the hell are WE? And just what are we actually DOING here? Except wasting bandwidth.
If I was a Democrat, I'd be that. Heck, I'm a naturalized foreign national that's going through serious mid-life crises of financial hardship. If I was a Republican then that's what I'd be, except that I loath the Republicans since they broke their Contract with America.
Thankfully I don't have to deal with too many of those kinds of people.
Except for back when Pat Buchanan was a candidate. I knew who he was, what he stood for ideologically, philosophically and theologically. What did the booney-rafters here at FreeRepublic have to say about him? I was a staunch supporter.
I'm still posting.
I posted why I could not vote for Bush & Cheny the first time, and I'm still posting now.
There was that conservative black candidate. I voted for hiom, and I said so. I'm still posting.
I've gotten into various doctrinal debates with other "Christians", and I'm still posting.
I've had knock down drag down fights with evolution proponents, I'm still posting.
There was a huge imbroglio that I was involved in that resulted in my banning (oh, you didn't know I was banned?), because I was the epitome of Christian conduct. I really don't want to talk about that because its a quite ugly side of myself, and I'd rather that it just remains in the muck somewhere where that part of me belongs. Look, I could keep going on and on and on about this or that, or something else that went on at FreeRepublic.
Recently I had a reflection of a scene of the movie Hamburger Hill where the guys were getting on each others throats, and here comes the line:
Now come on, what's going on here? Who are we? We're the Screaming Eagles, we FINISH FIGHTS we don't start 'em.Very poignant comment made by the NCIOC to the newsman that is so totally pertainent today. Anyways, I digress...
So what's going on here today?
What? Did all the Republicans desert FreeRepublic en masse? Don't you feel badly for the Libertarians? What a choice: stay here, or go there.
I've raised the issue in a recent thread concerning Romney's Mormon roots (a theology thread) whereby the decision needs to be made at one point or another if the planks that are supporting one of the two parties are indeed the planks that each one severally and indivually agree with.
I believe its time for a message to be sent to those parties that be, then now is the time to do it. Quite frankly I believe that the "republic" is history, but its a worthy concept to be resurrected.
Quite frankly, I do not see a great distinctive difference between the political policies of GWB & the xClinoon. In fact I believe that xClintoon is probably envious of what GWB accomplished on his watch.
Let me tell you somtething: Hillary Clintoon, or Obama Bin Osama, Johnny - Channeler - Edwards, Al - Ozone - Gorked (or whatever stooges they choose to run this country), will not destroy it.
But one thing certain, is that we - as a collective community of like minded conservatives - don't have much time left. I shudder the thought of living through 8 years of Democrat psychosis.
So if we're not with "them", and we're against the "losers", then who are WE?
The message to send until that gets sorted: vote U.S. Constitution Party.
P.S. I'M STILL POSTING. So are you guys, just not here.
I totally disagree with you (I hope thats ok in this brave new world)
But Im glad your around to disagree with
How did I not get a ping on this? You have my name on it but I didn’t get anything! Just happened to see it checking out to see what you posted while I was away!
A really fantastic, heart-felt post and I’m sure it echoes the thoughts of many, many Freepers. Does this mean you aren’t posting any more?-
Wait, you did post on Sarkozy...
Did you get an answer from Jim? I’ll have to check out this thread!
I’m just catching up after a lovely vacation; thank you for those wonderful words.
My husband and I were honored and privileged to attend one of Lee Greenwood’s concerts in Maine a few years ago. Of course it was nothing short of phenomenal. At the end of it he stayed to sign t-shirts—one of my proudest possessions—and was very kind and courteous to everyone. He went thru the audience during the breaks, shaking hands with people.
A man was standing next to me and showed me a photo of Lee at the piano and said he took it one night at Lee’s home. Lee had said he had just written a song and would his friend listen to it and give his opinion on whether it would sell or not. And it was this song! The gentleman said he was going to ask Lee to sign the photograph.
I wonder how many, if any, liberals get teary hearing it. I think I already know the answer!
Very true.
Would that it were embraced/enforced evenly/fairly.
That's nothing to worry about either, so long as we each hold up our own end. If the other guy won't mind his manners and stick to issues instead of insults, he doesn't deserve to be here.
They only get teary listening to "Imagine" and "Dream the Impossible Dream," two hymns to make-believe. Also, "My Way," a hymn to attitude. I was flabbergasted when one of the couples on "Dancing with the Stars" this week danced to "Imagine." I don't remember what dance they did -- probably a quickstep or paso doble or something. Competitors on that show have a matchless gift for selecting absolutely the wrong music.

Bumps back, and a plate of fresh cookies.
There’s no way I’m EVER catching up on this thread!
“Part of me is expecting him to tell us all that he’s really close to developing a prototype, but unfortunately a key source of funds has pulled out of the project. But if we can just send him a few dollars, he knows with our support he can bring this amazing procedure to reality!”
Good one. I know that this thread has long since run its course and I am way way behind in trying to get through it. But cheese and rice man, this guy is starting to get to me.
With all his concern over changes to the womans body, I’m wondering if he runs a brothel or a strip joint or something, and is trying to come up with a way to get rid of “problem” pregnancies while getting someone else (such as womb B) to pay for it.
Hey, I’m just sayin.
I am seriously impressed with this thread...
Appalling comment.
I shall log off and reexamine my life..contemplating your profound suggestions...
Whatever.
Onyx is still here. ANd I know who she’s gonna support, and it’s not Rudy.
Bookmark in fond memory of the rockets’ red glare, bugs bursting in air, plates of fresh cookies and other delightful patriotic duties.
