Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

“With all due respect, If I invite someone to my home, I usually respect that they may differ in opinion”

A better analogy would be if you invite all the people in your neighborhood over to discuss conservative issues (and FR mission statement)...a new neighbor comes in from Mass. and states that you are all radicals and espouses abortion, open borders and restrcting gun rights.
You warn the guy of the rules and he (coming to this thread) gets in your face and continues to trash conservative ideas in lieu of liberal one’s.

Now I’m really curious. Why would my feelings about conservatism mean anything to you? Why do you feel that you should ask me that?

We have FReepers going to the mat with fellow FReepers. The end result may be a breath of fresh conservative air in the final analysis, but the means to the end are indeed toxic.

If Thompson or Hunter don’t win the primary, and Giuliani does, then what happens? Does FR go third party (Keyes) and in turn give the presidency to the Dems? We might as well surrender to the Jihadis now...

This whole episode here went way beyond typical, pragmatic - and friendly - debate a while ago. That train seems to have left the station. Let’s bring it back. :-)

Just my two cents.

Yes, Texas has a Republican primary in 2008. It has previously been held the first Tuesday in March, but there is a bill currently pending before the legislature to move it to the first Tuesday in February. I oppose that bill.

I honestly think that with Rudy as the nominee, Texas is definitely in play for Hillary or Obama. Between the otherwise solid Republican voters who would stay at home, vote but not cast a vote for president, and vote third party, yes, the Democrat nominee no matter who it is would definitely have a shot. At the very least, Rudy would have to pour a lot of time and money into the state which should be totally unnecessary.

It would disgust me beyond belief if Texas should vote for Hillary, but that is exactly the risk that you run with Rudy as the candidate.

Amazingly, it is 13,000 posts later and Giuliani is still being strongly promoted by these guys.

“If Thompson or Hunter don’t win the primary, and Giuliani does, then what happens? Does FR go third party (Keyes) and in turn give the presidency to the Dems?”

Then the GOP could no longer say that it was anything close to being a conservative Party. In addition they have to go Plank rippin for several years. Anybody who supports Giuliani right now in the Primary, cannot consider themselves conservatives.

There's no way Howlin should be judged based upon that specific post.

I could find plenty of your posts that would paint you differently than you...and your allies here do.

Over the years, I've used a different analogy of what Howlin was expressing but unlike hers....mine was said with love and affection.

I said, the Religious Right should get in the back seat, please buckle up and to 'keep quiet'. Okay...I admit I may have used an acronym.

But I did ask them to buckle. ;^)

Maybe we should ask hubbie, to tell us hubbie to hubbie, or man to man, what he thinks.

That was snarky.

When you use tactics like that, you simply lose credibility. But leave it to a fool to become more foolish in the face of wisdom.

You're good at asking questions. Let's see how good you are at answering them succinctly and honestly:

If there were a general election between Alan Keyes, Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton, who would you vote for?

A two-word response will suffice.
