Washington Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerrys comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. Im sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
Im not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Foxs Parkinsons disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because theyre afraid to debate real men. And this time it wont work because were going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.
Kerry is just cranky because HE wanted to be a stuffed suite WH mouthpiece standing behind the podium (no slam to Tony Snow intended)...and the voters wouldn't let him, BWAAAHAAAAA!!!
Furthermore, John Kerry is afraid of Rush Limbaugh.
Well, I guess this settles the question of whether or not johnkerry.com got hacked. :D
It just occurred to me that this was probably MOSTLY planned. Deliberate. They're trying to make the last week of the campaign all about Iraq, and fire up their base.
Yeesh, my head is spinning.
Have you ever seen a more unhinged press release?
Unhinged, I tell you.
I have way more of those senior moments that I care to admit!!!!
I am not buying your wares, Sen. Kerry. And my president went to college, and graduated -- twice (Bachelor's and Master's degrees) -- so if you're trying to say it's W who's the stupe, you lose on that count, also. I believe the VP also graduated from college. So try another round of blameshifting for your own misplaced words. This pig won't fly.
Thanks for the ping!!!
From the snippet you saw, then, I'd love to know how you got he was referring to Bush.
Kerry's not wholly wrong on this. If you don't study hard, you do have few options. For kids who can't get a merit-based scholarship to college, the military (and by extension) Iraq is their ticket out of poverty.
The fact that the military is a ticket out of poverty is not a bad thing. The bad part is that there are so few other options.
Only an idiot would say something that offends a group of people and then tell them whether or not they have the right to be offended!!
John Kerry is the gift that keeps giving!!
I know you can't respond on FR anymore pal, but thought you would like to see this animated picture by Freeper "dead."
He was talking to those who already were in college...not to high school kids.
In any case, his words are in black and white. They fit his history of disdain for the military.
The democrats are probably all wishing he'd keep his mouth shut.

FLIP-FLOP, FLIP-FLOP, FLIP-FLOP
Kerry Flip-Flopping again - what a surprise! Say one thing one day and say the opposite thing another day. Kerry is nothing but the front man for the FLIP-FLOPPING Dhimmicrats.
I challenge John F. Kerry to debate me regarding the war in Iraq. Not only did I wear the uniform of my country's Air Force, but so did my father. My brother was an Army Ranger, and I have an uncle who served in Viet Nam. My grandfather fought in the trenches of France during WWI, while my wife's father served in the Army during WWII. My family tree on my father's side goes back to 1653, and we've had a member of our paternal family serve in every war since the American Revolutionary War. Now I have my youngest son in this war (Iraq) along with my brother's son. My sister's son already completed one tour, and will be going back for a second tour by next June. My brother-in-law has a niece serving in Iraq too.
I won't pull any punches with this narcissistic, egoistical, self-agrandizing liar who only served a scant few months in Viet Nam before wounding himself by accident in order to get himself home. The President lied? How dare this moron make this false ascertion as my son and two of my nephews risk their lives for this country. J.F. Skerry, along with his ill-liberal friends have done more to place our troops in jeopardy then all the insurgents in both Iraq and Afghanistan combined each and ever time they've opened their seditious mouths.
Anyone get the sense that I'm upset?
And where does a bear poop? Now ask me the obvious.
Imagine if a pubbie had released such a moronic, hateful statement.
College kids need to hear this too. Study hard, because college isn't a four-year party with a $20k/yr. cover charge.
In any case, his words are in black and white. They fit his history of disdain for the military.
Certainly his words were not spoken in a vacuum - and this includes his anti-war protester testimony in the 1970's. Even recognizing this, however, does not change the fact that service in Iraq may be honorable, but if you don't work hard in school, it will pretty much be your only option other than Mc-Walmart jobs.
If Kerry had said "study hard, or Walmart will be your only career prospect," we'd probably agree he was right. This holds true with the military too. It's an honorable career path, but a tough one - just as working at Walmart is an honest living, but a tough way to make a living. A kid should have options.
LOL, I just posted the same thing before I started reading the comments! Unbelievable.
As I read the article I thought it was from the Onion or Iowahawk. What incredible arrogance. Just disgusting.
