Episcopal Church Expected To Stop Backing Gay Clergy
The New York Sun ^ | April 3, 2006 | JONATHAN PETRE

LONDON - The liberal leadership of the American Anglican Church is preparing for an unexpected climbdown over homosexuality that could save the worldwide Church from schism.

Three years after consecrating Anglicanism's first openly gay bishop, the American bishops appear close to bowing to international pressure and shelving their radical agenda at a conference in June. Leaks from a private meeting of the bishops in North Carolina last week suggest that they will "repent" for plunging Anglicanism into turmoil by consecrating Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire.

I find it incredulous that Rev. Robinson didn't dicover he was Gay until well inot his forties. He was ordained. Then to further his career he lied before God and Congregation when he got married. When he felt that the timing suited his Gay Agenda he DUMPED THE WIFE. When the Congregation celebrated his cominmg out the Congregation also DUMPED THE WIFE.
When his daughters celebrated his ordination they DUMPED THIER MOTHER.

I'm sorry, but that simply isn't good enough. The Episcopal Church has to be willing to depose its pro-homosexual leadership, defrock Gene Robinson and rid itself of liberalism.

I'm Catholic, but I was appalled when I had to report on MLK Day celebrations at an Episcopal Church in West Chester, PA, and saw a pseudo-icon of the Pseudo-martyr Matthew Shepard in its priestesses's office.

When I moved to LA the website of the EC I wanted to join had it's own gay link for the homosexuals in the church. When I moved back to KS, the gays have taken over the EC church I grew up in. Oy.

This is bad news for the orthodox (small "o" orthodox=Evangelical + Anglo-catholic Episcopalians), as it appears the US Bishops will create language and standards which can plausibly sound like "repentance" but which really will just be words, engineered to mollify orthodox bishops around the world...allowing them to unofficially continue the homosexual agenda--very narrowly avoiding schism.

It's the standard liberal incrimentalist tactic: move and wait, move and, if its too far, back off...then wait some more for conservatives to get corrupted...then move again. This issue will continue to plague us for the rest of our lives.

There's no way Vicki Gene will step down, they'd have to drag him out of there.

Technically, it isn't really "repentance" unless they change their behavior following their statement of confession.

I agree with all of those who say, "I'll believe it when I see it" and "Prove it." IMO, this is just empty words and posturing.

If they really, truly do want to REPENT, they need to remove "Bishop" Robinson in addition to making any statement.

will create language and standards which can plausibly sound like "repentance" -- following Cynthia McKinney's lead.

IOW

If a parish is thinking of exiting they shoud do it NOW!

This is a lawyer trick the so called church is trying to lay ground work to establish they are really in charge and to get commitment s not to leave.

IOWW this is a trick to keep the assets.

Actually, considering that Saint Paul had the Corinthian church excommunicate a layman with simply an adulterous affair, true repentance would result in the ECUSA Bishops put to trial and excommunicate all unrepentent homosexuals in leadership AT LEAST, priests and bishops.

Of course along with that, all that deny the resurrection, the virgin birth, the mirracles of Christ, the full inspiration of the Bible, etc. etc. should be disciplined as well...(which may account for half the bishops...).

Ain't none of it gonna happen.

The left is too dominant to back away. This sounds like a ploy that will not be backed up by a real backdown.

It will be windowdressing with the left remaining in power and just shifting their tactics. The split off of churches takes money out of the hands of the leftist leaders and they want to stop the bleeding without treating the cause.

They'll just try to infiltrate and control the non-liberal parishes and dioceses by keeping the institution together so they can slowly complete domination of the denomination.

"I wonder if they will back off on divesting from Israel too."

What do they mean by divesting? Sounds like a boycott.

It's been a long time since I was a member of the Church, but I find I'm still a little interested in what they're up to.

Repenting until they are stronger is not enough.
They must also RESIGN.

Next on the agenda: Bring back the 1928 Book of Common Prayer

I don't know if it was official church policy or just some group but they wanted to remove nay investments in Israeli companies because of the so-called "Palestinian plight" issue.

Too late for me. Bishop Anderson sealed the deal for me when he wrote me back an email saying (re: Ordination of homosexuals) that we who don't agree are to "live in obedience under protest".

I am doing just that by excommunicating myself from the ELCA.
