LONDON - The liberal leadership of the American Anglican Church is preparing for an unexpected climbdown over homosexuality that could save the worldwide Church from schism.
Three years after consecrating Anglicanism's first openly gay bishop, the American bishops appear close to bowing to international pressure and shelving their radical agenda at a conference in June. Leaks from a private meeting of the bishops in North Carolina last week suggest that they will "repent" for plunging Anglicanism into turmoil by consecrating Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire.

With all the homosexual church commercials these days, these boutique churches seem desperate for an audience.
I wonder if they will back off on divesting from Israel too.

Late in coming, but I welcome this news.
Time to put your money where your mouth is and remove the gay Bishop. Until they do this, their credibility is nil.

Hard to say what effect this (if true) will have on the ELCA. There has been a tendency to follow the lead of ECUSA but lacking the global backlash of other Lutheran bodies this might embolden the revisionists to become the new "standard bearers".
I think the homosexual church thing is what has sent a huge wake up call.
I bet they realized there was no way they could defend a UNIFIED effort by various parishes to break away. I bet this is really a financial deci$$$ion more than faith.

Until they remove the homosexual bishop, this is just moving deck chairs on the titanic.
We will have to wait and see.The local Episcopal diocese here is already seizing property of churches that have not gone along with this. I believe six churches are involved.
They didn't figure how quickly an organized revolt can evolve against them. Now those responsible should be replaced so the church can get back to its true mission of saving lives.

Probably not. This is a rumor from a closed meeting. The real backing-off, if there is one, will come at General Convention in June. The pro-homosexual groups have set out a big agenda.
The most interesting thing will be the Bishop's election in the Diocese of Californica, where I think we can probably expect to see one of the practicing homosexual candidates to get the nod.
Apparently one of the big political hot potatoes in the GC planning is where to place the approval of the new bishop with repect to the debate concerning the Windsor report.

They can repent all they want but until they undo the damage, it won't matter.
I'll believe it when I see it. The National Episcopal Church is notoriously powerless when it comes to controlling the dioceses.
