As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.
THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.
Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?
Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!
Are all you results posters getting data from the same site?
Why is Kaine up by 7% on one and Kilgore up by 12 on the other?
Why are we spending so much money on the salaries of Albany lawmakers who don't seem to accomplish much of anything?

Not exit polls. These are real numbers from precincts reporting, although they are unofficial and not yet certified. So, unfortunately, they are real numbers, with perhaps an itty-bitty asterisk.
Well she better be leading. If she can't throw out that slimeball RAT, just go ahead and throw Virginia into the blue column.
In the past tense, if that is what happened, definitely.
But that's a fact not in evidence right now.
This Freeper can. So we lose in VA. It's disappointing, but so what? Life goes on, I'll still be smiling tomorrow.
I enjoy politics, but it isn't my life. My family is my life, my faith is my life. Those things matter. Who sits in the Governor's office in Virginia ultimately does not.
Still keeping my fingers crossed for Kilgore, though. :-)
I was amused that Mark Simone took the Drudge foul-up seriously, and reported those as the actual returns, before his correction.

Unfortunately, Virginia has been trending less and less Republican lately, primarily due to the urban sprawl of Washington...it was fairly close in 2004 for President there IIRC (something like 53-46?)

the general answer to your question - is no. let's see how the night goes. but I often post on the political threads and have people try to convince me that Bush won in 2004 by a landslide, instead of by 4% and one state electorally. and then I will be on another set of threads in the coming months, where people will assure me that Hillary cannot possibly win the presidency, and that I am insane, and a troll, etc.
but I won't pre-judge, let's wait for all the results to come in.
Loudon County hasn't reported yet. Fairfax has reported 39%.
Of course life goes on. The question is, do they have the clarity and wisdom to adjust, or just live in denial?

That shouldn't be too hard to figure out. "Adjustments" might be needed, and they take time.

I can't believe anyone has election coverage.... there is hope that the Bay Area was saying the "weather" was causing low turnout.
