It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.
It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.
So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.
I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.
Also, UT will need to schedule tough non-conference foes as much as possible. The key to the BCS is beating tough non-conference teams -- it's how the ties between unbeatens and once-beatens usually gets decided. And poll voters seem to be rewarding those types of wins more than ever. That win at Ohio State really put UT in great position. Besides, a tough non-conference schedule gives a team a chance in years when their conference is weak.
Remember that even the greatest French hero, Neopolean, wasn't a real Frenchman. He was Corisican. Enough said.
I'm not happy about what is happening in France, but it's like a train wreck waiting to happen, and the current French govt. and American MSM behemoth and democrat party deserves its just desserts, for thier hubris and obstinance against the WOT.
Hershey,
I really dont know what is going on since I am on the outside. Neither does anybody else around me. What we think is happening is that it is really a show of force. We have Brazil and Venezuela in our back yard looking toward Panama. The message that President Bush is carrying (we think) is keep your mitts off Panama. Dont even look this way.
Thanks
Boy I bet liberals HATE talking to you about the war, since you're Iraqi and you know the truth of what's going on there. Please feel free to ping me with things when you post. I'd be very interrested! 8)
Jimmy Carter lost the Panama Canal for us and thanks Jimmy for Iran.
And apparently, it's up to us and the blogs to make sure the world even hears about it. Boy does the MSM suck!
Can't say a bad word about their heroes and there is no trouble in paradise.
Can't France be the New Turkey? Please...
LOL
Indeed. Am impending collapse of England, God forbid, should be treated as though the U.S. itself is about to fall and we should have boots on the ground and ships off the shores, if England will have us send them, to make certain it NEVER falls to islamic radicals. Those are the two worst scenarios in my book would be England or Israel falling. The only thing worse would be America itself. There is also Australia and Poland and several other VERY close conservative allies in the war, but they are not under as impending threat by islam as England and Israel are I don't believe.
for future reference
JOHN KERRY wanted us to seek help from the FRENCH with Iraq. The French can't help themselves. We really dodged the bullet with Kerry. Whew! That was scary.
They are trying everything in their book to contain the chaos without using force, but it's obviously not working. They are of the mindset that to start shooting the rioters would cause a multiplication of the scale of the disaster.
In reality, the only thing (other than submission to Islam) which may stop the rioters is the absolute certainty that they will be shot in the act. Most of the yoots will go home to their cites after the islamoblogs start reporting piles of the dead. They are not suicide burners.
Gots to go. This has been a VERY good reading thread. Have a good weekend everyone. God willing, rational heads in france will prevail. Maybe those frenchies with a spine will have had their fill now and take their country back. God willing.
One positive from the riots, then, is that Soros and Buffett are taking a beating on their positions in Euros.
Shame.
No problem, help is on the way.
Gaddafi offers help over riots
From: Agence France-Presse
From correspondents in Tripoli
November 06, 2005
LIBYAN leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi called French President Jacques Chirac overnight to express his concern about rioting in Paris suburbs and other parts of France.
The Libyan national news agency reported that Mr Chirac thanked Colonel Gaddafi for his interest and reassured him that the situation was under control.
Colonel Gaddafi was reported saying Libya was "disposed to help France overcome these events," which he described as "regrettable."
The report did not outline what kind of aid might have been forthcoming.

It just never seems to work. Well, at least they're having an awesome season. Scored like 600 points so far right? ;) Heh heh. Sure seems like it.
