Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

The better of two turds is still a turd. We've gotten so used to accepting crap for shinola that ya'll don't seem to realize you could have better. We're one candidate better than Communist russia. And every time out the picks think differently and do the same things to us. Bush is better than Kerry; but, where's a Reagan? And why aren't we all seeking one out instead of letting some party tell us what the picks are? Reality check.

Methinks it's long past time to throw the parties and professional politicians out of politics across the US and get average people in there. Fire all the lawyers as it were. Then maybe average Americans would be represented in the US instead of taking a backseat to corporate interests.
Then again, revolution does a body-politik good now and then. And that seems to be what the morons up there are driving for. If they keep up the crap with immigration, h1, l1, offshoring, WTO and free trade in general scuttling all we've worked for in this nation - they'll likely have one.

I have read that 10% Muslim population is the tipping point. While they may be an annoyance before that, once they reach about 10%, they suddenly decide that the host country belongs to them (or should). France is at 12%, IIRC.

Also, I read on an earlier thread that the French army is about 15% Muslim (although another poster said 25%) and this is one of the reasons it is not being called out to deal with this. In other words, the Muslim soldiers could not be trusted.

Does anybody know more about this? Is is true that there is a such a high percentage of Muslims in the French army?

It's fantastic now you can see that Europe is no more christian.European christianism is an old story...

Thanks! So many threads, so little time!

The participation of Muslims in the French military does sound as if it could present some serious problems down the road. Or right now.

If you're legit, welcome aboard.

To practice Islam, one must speak Arabic fluently.

I don't recall that being one of the five pillars of Islam

Faith or belief in the Oneness of God and the finality of the prophethood of Muhammad;
Establishment of the daily prayers;
Concern for and almsgiving to the needy;
Self-purification through fasting; and
The pilgrimage to Makkah for those who are able.

By your criterion there would appear to be few true muslims in the world.

Pinging you to this thread. Report on Good Morning America a few minutes ago was given by a black anchor who reported the rioters were "North African immigrants'.

I thought this was very interesting, considering the 'speak' on this story seems to not want to publicly admit the rioters are Muslim insurgent youth-

but the media moguls are giving a black American copy to read on-air that makes the report sound like it's black Africans.

Even in the civil service, we are victimised. We have to work twice as hard as white French people. That's the problem with France - institutional racism.

No, that's called climbing the corporate ladder

Thanks for the link-- I'll be hornswaggled:

Hmm, we were way off. From Drudge: http://reuters.myway.com/article/20051106/2005-11-06T121732Z_01_MAR227625_RTRIDST_0_NEWS-FRANCE-RIOTS-DC.html "PARIS (Reuters) - Gangs of youths torched 1,300 vehicles overnight in the 10th consecutive night of violence in Paris's poor suburbs and major French towns, despite the deployment of thousands of extra police."

Thanks for the question and the answer on this. That's an interesting dynamic.

Livius, my point about 5% is that when you have that many people living in your community, you're going to have them demanding equal time for their views. In todays PC "diversity at all cost" environment, everyone caters to the miniority.

Now we see holidays both Christian and Moslem being discussed at schools, government offices etc... You'll also find pockets where mosques prayer towers and other outright Middle-Eastern influences trump our culture.

The differences between the moslem and Christian faith are so different, that I consider it cultural suicide to import moslems the way we are. This is going to affect our nation in ways we never thought possible. It already is.

Goodness no. Just thought you were wondering if there was a troll on board. Pardon if I misunderstood.

Thank you, Bahbah, for responding! I was worried I had unintentionally offended.

What I was *sniff sniffing* over was the sadness of the quote. I need to look for that graphic that shows the phases civilizations go through. When I read the quote posted, it made me think of empires that have fallen and once great societies that have crumbled.

We need to learn from our history of other civilizations (Roman, British, etc.) The US is such a young country by comparison but sometimes it seems like we are running as fast as we can to our own destruction.

I have to laugh about your troll reference, Bahbah; I do not have "troll-dar." I'm usually the last to know...

that I consider it cultural suicide to import moslems the way we are.

I think so, too. I believe the govt is expanding the number of immigrants to be accepted from Muslim countries, to make it even worse.

The big problem is that somehow democracy has been confused with a bizarre rule of the minority. It's one thing to tolerate people without imposing majority practices on them - although in certain areas, if they're going to live here, they have to abide by US secular law - but quite another thing to make it seem as if the minority practices deserve the same consideration as those of the majority of the population.

So we have a bleak situation, as you point out. A country that bends over backwards to accomodate minorities (well, the PC ones, at least, and Islam is PC, for some reason); and a steady stream of hostile immigrants coming from a relgion that has been aggressive, violent and dreaming of world domination since its day one.
