Per Fox News...
Not a tidbit or bizarre in any way at all.
We have been talking about this for days here.
He was saying that facetiously.
I have to leave for a new job but I HAD to come to FR when I heard this on the radio.
YESSSS!!!!!! I am still doing my happy dance.
Excellent choice, President Bush!
Excellent nomination, Mr. President!!!
"People will object that Bush would never do such a thing to a friend. That's true; he wouldn't...but...what if Miers was in on the plan?"
I believe she was in on it. Bush plays poker and plays it well. We now have Alito and the MSM is portraying him to be someone to the right of Attila the Hun.
Bush took abortion and religion off the table with Miers pick. Bush is being faulted by the right not because of Miers beliefs but by Miers lack of Constitutional law. Now we have the same candidate with the knowledge.
This is going to be a blast.
Amazing. Even now the Miers crowd is hell-bent on making a flame war out of this.
Since that didn't work, President Bush is going with someone who is very up front with his philosophy and has a paper trail. The RINOS will now have no cover.
"Well, I did decide to read more:
. There is only one reason that Brownback and other conservatives demanded the clearly executive-privilege-protected documents from the White House, and that was to deny her a vote"
No. I think it's clear they did that deliberately to give GWB and HM an out (which they took).
May as well be honest about it, Carry_Okie. You have never been a supporter of President Bush. Even if you were to tell me you voted for him, your paper trail all over FR indicates otherwise.
Amen and AMEN!!
I can't wait for Kennedy, Reid, Schumer et. al. try to explain how Alito is such an extremist for concluding that the then-Democrat Governor of Pennsylvania, Bob Casey, did not violate the Constitution by signing the Penn. Abortion Control Act into law.
" can't understand why people in the conservative movement abandoned the principle that an originalist interpretation of The Constitution was important, ironically during a battle "to install an originalist"."
......................................................
Don't get stuck on supid pal, you missed all the black and white written evidence of her very liberal opinions. get real.
Eaxactly! I did'nt like the Miers nom and wanted JRB...we got Alito!! Lets Roll!! Time to kick butt and take names, no more dissention or whining just lock and load! Lets get it done.
Yep. Bush did exactly what his media base leaders
(from Limbaugh to Kristol) told him to do! "Get
rid of the nice lady Miers and nominate a strict
conservative so we can finally have that knock-
down-drag-out debate we've all been itching for
for 40 years."
Waiting to hear Clinton's reaction.
Yeah it is now time for ALL OF US, ALL CONSERVATIVES to FLOOD the seven RINOs with calls and emails and faxes 24-7. If we're RELENTLESS, VICIOUS, MERCILESS with them, they will all cave and vote for Alito. MUCH pressure is needed from us. We have to all be the surrogate spine for the Republicans in the Senate, for they have no spine of their own and haven't since long before they were the Majority.
That's nice. I think Specter's deep friendship with his political appearance and future outweighs that. He is more about "style" and less about substance.
He needs to be reminded about the last election cycle, who supported him (against a much stronger Republican rival, yet!) and why that "machine" can make him disappear into the cornice moldings of his cushy Senate office....
Well, you have to admit, he's also a better man that a rather large proportion of his die-hard supporters (those who wanted him to appoint a liberal just to get back at conservatives for opposing Miers).
Actually, he would be the fourth Catholic, with one (Kennedy) Catholic in name only. :-)
Stop worrying about Specter. Ignore the words, watch his actions.
If he opposes Alito in any way, shape or fashion, he will last as Judiciary chair for about 24 more hours.
