just breaking!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the clarification......I had not heard that. If Janice Rogers Brown was still available for consideration, then he has no excuse for not choosing her. I just hope that President Bush doesn't turn his anger and frustration back at his conservative base and nominate someone even less conservative than Miers.
If JRB is nominated, you can bet your @ss I'll be behind the Prez.
I know you are to humble to say it, but thanks for being on the RIGHT side. The air is cleaner here, dontcha think?
I don't think they will, but it's still a remote possibility.
I think that is overly optimistic. Some of us seem to have other agendas entirely.
You are correct! I saw a lot of Freepers with huge doubts that were willing to have an up or down vote. I think her pulling her nomination was in the best interest of the President and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee and I respect her for doing just that.
Yep.

And PRAY that no decisions that affect this country's moral future are made soon because SANDRA DAY OCONNOR is now going to be there longer.
Where do you find that he recognized his mistake? It is my understanding she withdrew, he didn't ask her to withdraw.
Are you kidding?
It will only get worse, now that the ubers have the whip hand.
You are spot on!
They are like the liberals, they can't make it through their day without being offended about something.
You'd be surprised at the supposed Bush-lovers' low regard for the man they love. I've heard the meme that Bush plans to appoint the worst possible person post-Miers, out of spite, for weeks-- by pro-Miers folks trying to shout down anti-Miers folks. It's crazy.
Give 'im a call and recommend someone.
There will be no reunification. The bile and hatred directed at Ms. Miers has created a permanent rift. Even now, on this thread, after she has withdrawn, there are people calling her a lesbian. I have seen people call her a pig and worse. I will NEVER side with such people, no matter if they are on the Left or the Right.
More to the point: From now on, any candidate for public office who prances around either calling himself a "real" conservative or courting same will not get my vote.
I think that if Bush hadn't put up Miers, he would have had a much stronger chance to push a real candidate through the Senate.
By nominating Miers, he showed weakness, unwillingness to put pressure on the RINO seven or confront the Democrats on this crucial issue. Now, regretably, he will have to prove himself from the position of weakness that he put himself into. It's like having to win a war after having tossed away the first battle.
I think he can do it, and I think he must do it. If he were to put up Gonzalez, he would totally destroy himself. If he puts up a string of conservatives, he will recover, but it will be a very hard fight at this point.
Still, there's simply no other choice.
My, my, aren't you gracious, calling yourself the winner.
I hope you're happy with what you've "won."
Thank you, Miss Marple. This is what I've been trying to say. Coulter's "Cleaning Lady" comment was disgusting, but one of the milder ones compared to what we've seen at FR. I've never said that there should be no dissent against Miers, but I have argued that it should be civil, and preferably behind the scenes. Many have burned bridges that will never be rebuilt.
Ah, but you see, that would take real men with real principles willing to fight. Reagan is dead. So we have the slow march with the slowly crumbling press. MSM are political operatives but their power is waining, maybe not as fast as we would like, but it is going.
Nobody has the nerve to be McCartny and call traitors in the MSM, the CIA the dem party, traitors.....they might loose their country club status and the dems would not invite them to the next DC party. We have to deal in reality, but it is not all bleak, just blasted slow.
