And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates. Oh shut up! You Miers supporters were way wrong, and yes, if he makes another bad choice, he's going to hear about it. Stop with the hate bull s**t!

We can only hope! That is exactly what I am after. It is high time we took these DimWits to the mat on this filibuster nonsense! I want to pin their shoulders to the floor so they can never do this again. It's time the Pubbies stood up and showed the American people they are not a bunch of pussies! McCain and his traitors to the party need to be taught a lesson too as far as I'm concerned. What the Rinos did last time is unforgivable. I say kick 'em out of the party if they try this compromise BS again! We control the majority damn it! Why in the hell aren't our elected officials acting like it?!You are right, but the sad reality is that there won't be enough votes to defeat a filibuster, and there won't be enough votes to change the rules (the so-called "nuclear" option).
The reality is that Bush needs to find another Roberts - a solid Conservative who can get votes from Dems. Perhaps someone like Clement or Jones.

Dr. Keyes would be most delicious to watch in front of the committee. In fact, it would be excellent to allow him to appear on television to answer every charge made against him during the interregnum between the nomination and the hearings.

Oh, please. If he does the Republican party is gonna lose a looot of votes this November. Good bye Party!
Another symptom of intellectual vacuousness.

What a great reason for the election in 2006. Could you imagine the stakes. 33 Senators up for reelection. the Supreme Court at stake. Talk about a get out the vote drive in the Red states. So we would lose Chaffe and some other RIno's? Big deal we would gain more then we lose.
To: Cedric
Make no mistake: W is in a WEAKENED position because he withdrew this nomination! Ah, but the Supreme Court is in a STRONGER position!

Remember, we all share the same goal of putting originalists on the SCOTUS. If the President now nominates an originalist that is accepted by conservative pundits, they will quite happily support such a nominee. Perhaps his biggest mistake in the Miers nomination was that he put forward a candidate with no serious supporters, unlike Roberts who had almost universal support from people that matter.

Lemme tell ya: this is the guy we want.
I don't think he'll get the nod, but he SHOULD--if ever there is a guy who can educate the public and who has fought the good fight, it is Kozinski on the Ninth.
I like JRB. I REALLY like her. But I like Kozinski like I like Laz. And you can see my earlier post about that. 8)

What's up with the "we"."We" = "Those who knew Meirs would withdrawl / would be withdrawn".
By the way, have I told you that you were wrong, lately?

Congratulations. You are the winner of the DUMBEST POST in the history of free republic! Yes, that's how you help make sure conservatives win elections: Kick conservatives out of the party. Why, if those crazy conservatives don't believe in a big tent party, there's no room for them!
To: rhombus
Sounds good. We'll see, I expect you will be there to support him and not "sit it out". If he appoints JRB? No one at FR should sit it out. They should be banned if they sit it out.
