Apparently, it wasn't a story until the FBI brought a photo of Hinrichs to the Feed & Seed, asking if JHIII had been in there recently. The clerk remembered him, thus there is now a story about it.

OK....I remember reading that the photo on the "shall be unnamed" site was photoshopped. Here is a photo from CNN's website. Notice though that CNN is not an Islamic-antagonistic site. If they would have photoshopped it, it would have been to remove Johnny Jihadi's muzzie beard and not add it. See for yourself and decide:

It certainly doesn't. As I said earlier on this thread, the planning that goes into making a bomb doesn't jibe with someone who's depressed. It does jibe with someone who's angry and has a plan.

If the depressed angle is true, I postulate that he was depressed quite a long time before this event, at a time when his depression made him a perfect target for Islamist handlers looking for someone vulnerable they could recruit, convert, and program to do their dirty work for them.

Remember that an American convert appeared in the last videotape warning. Does anyone think that was just an accident or a novel idea? To me, it was a glaring statement from the folks at AQ that attacks would now come from such American recruits. It might also have been a message to said recruits that their time had come to be the front line.

Why are parents and alumni coming down on UO? I don't get it. Boren seems like a moron and knows more than he is telling in his "good morning and have a nice day" memo to the student body.

It's got to be chilling to have children going to UO right now, or living in Norman for that matter.

Something is not right here and the Media, IMHO, have been giving marching orders to keep the lid on it.

I am still interested in exactly what we are going to hear from President Bush this week. I got a gut feeling it ain't going to be good. This incident, the DC bio chemicals, the new concern about the Avian Flu and Bali are not looking pretty from this part of the USA.

But then again, maybe they are putting something into my Reynolds Wrap at WalMart!

I think it would be more likely that our boy was just carrying a run of the mill inconspicuous campus-type backpack. If he was being surveilled and they were SURE he was toting a bomb there's likely to be someone authorized to take extreme measures to deal with such a situation. That doesn't mean that you'd know for sure that the thing would go off like it did---may have shot him and set it off unintentionally or there he may have had a deadman switch. As always we have to speculate on info derived from the News-hiders.

Kinda wonder just WHAT the stuff was that went Kaboom. Too strong to be ANFO evidently.

The video was playing when I walked in the door about 5pm local time today. Weird thing about when I was searching for more video, Channel 9 had a segment about blogger reactions about the bombing. They even included a quote from my own blog about how terrorists don't always have middle eastern names (Richard Reid, Jose Padilla, John Williams and John Walker Lindh). The notice is nice, but it's even better that more people are finding out that it's not what OU President Boren would like it to be.

I am glad you also thought the Dad was weird. Does anyone know his background? Just some of his "phraseology" didn't sound like he was from the Midwest. It was my understanding that they moved from Illinois to Colorado Springs a number of years ago.

Also, said he and his wife divorced, anyone know where the Mother is?

A last name would be the father's. Maybe jumping to conclusions but I would think a Mother would be wanting to know what happened to her son.
