I held my breath eleven months to post this rubbish, and all I got was this lousy zot. (Arianna SUV)

Doug From Upland's siting Arianna Huggington and Al Gore exiting large vehicles at a conference on the environment in San Francisco has set the blogs afire. But there are legitimate uses for large vehicles. Really there are. The I just don't think one person driving the LA freeways in one because the want to win a collision contest at the expense of the unfortunate person they might collide with isn't one. Neither is having bigger, always spinning wheels than your neighbor. Neither is because you get a tax writeoff for a vehicle you use only for commuting and driving to the convenience store for ciggaretts and Cheesy Puffs.

The Sierra Club is an organization that uses large passenger vehicles wisely, it's the nation's number one outdoor activity organization - the Sierra Club. They use their large vehicles to take people hiking, rafting, etc. When they go afield fill the vehicles with people and gear rather efficiently, using much less gas than if they all drove individual vehicles in groups of 2 or 3. The Suburban they picked Arianna in may well have been the Sierra Club's designated airport vehicle - with features for handicapped (something the Sierra Club is known for) and perhaps airport parking sticker.

As for Gore driving an Escalade. Is that the Escalade that coverts from open-bed truck to enclosed bed (SUV?). And isn’t Gore from an Agricultural state. In fact, if I recall he’s a farm boy; probably lives on a working farm. Sorry city boy but low-ground clearance, two-wheel drive freeway flyers just get stuck in that Iowa mud down on the farm. Once again, if you nail Gore for driving an “SUV”, the BS you smell emanating as he exits his vehicle may be real and I for one am not about to tell farmers and ranchers, or people that have to drive on farm or ranch roads, they can’t have a truck or other large, high wheelbase vehicle.

It's amazing the hunger for fresh liberal blood. But just like the Swiftboat Vets before him. By the time the undamming truth of DFU's charges comes out, the little weasel will have moved on to the next unsustinable smear campaign.

You waited eleven months to post this. Wow......dude you have no life. Your pursuit of excellence is a whole bunch lower than we require here. You are a loser. I am so sorry to have to tell you this, honestly, but you are an IDIOT. But, be stimulated in the fact that there are many like you. Find the flock at DU and just defecate all those "brilliant" pieces of philosophy that you have stored in that hollow gourd of yours. I'm sure that the echo makes you drool. Keep flipping your lip and taking those drugs until you are admitted to a rehab center, you are going to need it. 90% of people make their way in this world, you are the 10% that we have to make an excuse for.

I have a pretty good suspicion that the Admin Mod had a little fun with the guy's title. :)

From 12/9/1997:

Kyoto A-Go-Go

WASHINGTON, D.C.—No one has yet commented on the obvious irony of a ten-day UN meeting convened to deplore the production of hot air. Amy Ridenour of the National Center for Public Policy Research distributed a very helpful breakdown of the amount of jet fuel required to get everyone to Kyoto and back – probably enough to power some small African nation for a month. Al Gore's plane alone required more than 65,000 gallons of jet fuel for his round trip – all for a ten-minute speech. This works out to almost 40 gallons of fuel per word. At least it was a recycled speech.

And from the looks of Gore at his brief public appearances there, you'd think the Attorney General had named an independent counsel after all. Clearly Gore is not very keen on the unpleasant reality that has intruded on his triumphal crusade to save the planet. People just have this unenlightened fondness for economic growth, which depends on energy. Why, even the labor unions have wagged their finger at Gore. And Gore's other major political donor base – the Chinese – haven't been very accommodating either. Fred Smith reports from Kyoto that, when pressed by the U.S. to accept tougher limits on greenhouse gas emissions, the Chinese delegates asked: "Do you want us to be poor forever?"

So as of press time here Monday, it seems as though the conference might adjourn with little more produced than hot air. The best case scenario all along has been that the Kyoto conference would turn out to be the environmental equivalent of health care reform. But this might also turn out to be the worst case scenario, too. Remember that although the health care grand scheme failed, we are still getting much of it in little pieces. This will be the fallback strategy for the Gore Corps. And it might actually suit Gore's political interest better anyway.

I guess it should have been Gore last night instead of Trump singing Green Acres. You have us rolling on the floor here, David Zero. Your name is so appropriate.

Ummm.... if everybody (Sierra and Arianna) was APPALLED that the big hunkin' SUV was sent to PICK HER UP from the airport... how come a cute little ENVIRO FRIENDLY vehicle wasn't gotten to take her BACK?

Or am I missing something????

That is indeed one of the arguments. Among the thousands who attended the event must have been someone with a vehicle that wasn't an SUV who could have given her a ride back. A short distance behind that vehicle is also where a dozen cabs were parked. At SFO is a rental car agency that rents hybrids and other enviro-friendly vehicles.

Questions from other members : Hypocrite Arianna Huffington in Gas Guzzler SUV - PHOTO Item number: 7714931357

Question & Answer Answered On

Q: So what kind of mileage does that behemoth actually get? Couldn't all that gas money have been given to the poor instead?
Sep-25-05
A: I have been told by some who have owned a similar vehicle, that is likely the vehicle gets between 8-12 mpg city, depending on the driver and conditions. It obviously didn't use a huge amount of gas for the half hour drive back and forth to the airport. The point is that she is the one who demonized it and associated it with helping terrorists. It is the same kind of hypocrisy as Hillary Clinton claiming to be the champion of women when she had nothing to say about what her husband did to Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. In fact, Hillary worked behind the scenes to harm those women because they were a political threat. And don't tell me about Hillary and children. Prostitution king (including child prostitution) Ng Lap Seng made at least 10 visits to the Clinton White House, gave them lots of money, and attended at least one dinner with them. We have a great photo of Seng and the Clintons. You may actually see that in the upcoming documentary --- INDICTING HILLARY.

Q: Arianna does not look like a big and strong person. Was her driver a big enough person to handle that rather large behemoth? I need to know because the media has made the case that these SUV's are dangerous and they are always printing news stories about Evil SUV's going out of control and crashing into things or people and the all to often roll-overs.
Sep-25-05
A: The driver was certainly big enough. Actually, there are many women on the road who are rather slight of build who handle SUVs just fine. Probably the greatest factor is being able to navigate an SUV safely is that you not be dumb as a rock. I would suspect that a large percentage of Democrats never get behind the wheel of one of these things.

Q: Enough about the Suburban! I wish that Arianna's face was showing in the photo. Did she at least look like she cares more about the environment than we do? That's what really counts. Not what she does. Just what she says and the fact that she cares more than us.
Sep-24-05
A: Well, when she walked by me outside she was smiley and happy. She at least suckered those who heard the speech into believing that she cared about the environment. What was quite interesting about the weekend is that every time I went down onto the convention floor, it was three flights and 57 steps. I walked up and down them every time. I was saving the planet. Not more than 5% of the greenies used the stairs going down, and I only saw a handful use the stairs going up. They thought nothing about the escalators and energy they were using. Shame on them.

Q: Did you get a picture of the slime trail she left after they drove away? Or was the stench too strong to get that close? Inquiring minds want to know?
Sep-24-05
A: Maybe we shouldn't be so mean to her. Oh, okay, maybe we should. She deserves it. I did not actually look for a slime trail. After the speech, she came outside and walked right by me and then across the street. In fairness, I didn't notice the leftist stench that usually permeates the streets when they demonstrate. She apparently bathes and takes care of herself.

Q: Doesn't she also own a Dodge Charger with a #1 on the side and a Confederate flag on the top?
Sep-24-05
A: Man, these are tough questions. I know a little bit, but I'm not your expert on all things Arianna.

Q: Did you get a look at the license plate? Probably some cutesy anti-Bush neologism.
Sep-24-05
A: I didn't get a look at the license plate. It was in San Francisco, so it is possible. I'll try to pay better attention next time.

Q: I am not interested in this particular photo, but in one of her getting on a private plane. Do you have any?
Sep-24-05
A: If only I had such a photo. I would expect that Hannity might outbid you for that one.

Q: I'm so glad you have this offered. I wondered if she died already since her co-star in Green Acres (Eddie Albert) had died earlier this year. Do you have additional other offerings like her face on toast or a tortilla? Is she still seeking a Green Acres reunion with perhaps just Arnold the pig? Has this picture been blessed by a priest?
Sep-24-05
A: She is very much alive. No Arianna toast or tortilla, but I will keep my eyes open for them. Actually, when I was cleaning up after my dogs the other day, I saw........no, I better not go there. No Green Acres reunion with Arnold, but maybe Trump. And, finally, no blessing by a priest.

Q: Quote..She only plays someone who cares about saving energy on television..end quote Does that mean that she patronizes Holiday Inn? Isnt Holiday Inn owned by another Leftwing millionaire? Im so confused, perhaps its all the mixed messages I get from the left. Can you straighten me out on this Doug?
Sep-24-05
A: I have no info on the ownership of the Holiday Inn. Arianna would not stay in a Holiday Inn. No help with the mixed messages coming from the left.

Q: Does this item legitimately qualify for Media Mail postage rates?
Sep-24-05
A: I will inquire at the post office. If it doesn't, I will certainly comply with all postal regulations. If it costs a little more to ship, I will pick up the extra charge and not pass it on the the taxpayers. Everyone already pays too many taxes. Well, not everyone. Just those who work.

Q: I hear Albabys Cadillac escalade has finer appointments. Is this true?
Sep-24-05
A: The Cadillac Escalade is, well, the Cadillac of SUVs. It is the most powerful. It does have very nice appointments, and you pay for them.

Q: I hear that Arianna only uses this vehicle to carpool with other ecominded liberals. Is it true that she and John Kerry got happy in the backseat of this behemoth?
Sep-24-05
A: I don't know if they ever met in the spacious back seat of a Suburban. John Kerry is only happy when he is watching his beloved Red Sox, the team with players whose names he doesn't know. Who is Manny Ortiz? She didn't carpool here. It was just Arianna and the driver. And, as you saw, she sat in the back seat.

Q: Does this model come equipped with leather seats? Thanks Doug
Sep-24-05
A: Those on FreeRepublic who have owned similar vehicles, have pegged it as a 1996-2001 model and, because of the wheels, a 4x4. I'm pretty sure leather was available, perhaps even standard. GM is going to have to field that one to be sure.

Q: Hullo Doug. Why cant I see Ahhriannas face? Are those windows tinted? I hear that tinted windows conserve energy. Thanks for any information
Sep-24-05
A: Yes, she had tinted windows. Fortunately, the driver had the windows down while waiting for her so it wouldn't be too hot for her when she entered the vehicle. I believe tinted windows do save energy, but, of course, she doesn't really care about that. She only plays someone who cares about saving energy on television. What the elite care about is that the tinted windows don't allow the little people to see them.

Q: You mention FreeRepublic.com... Aren't these the people who pointed out that Dan Rather had obtained the only memo ever typed on a top secret TNG proportional-type type writer that also happened to use Times New Roman as it's default font, just like the much later devised MS Word? Could it be that Arianna is just as genuine as Dan?
Sep-24-05
A: It is indeed the --FReepers-- who handed Dan Rather his lunch and sent him away in disgrace. Thanks to the internet and talk radio, the left no longer has a monopoly on information. You can tell by all the hatred of George Bush and the constant reference to the dreaded right wing, that these folks don't like giving up power. They will do anything to get it back. We are in the midst of this great nation's second Civil War. This one is for our culture. We cannot afford to lose it to the leftists.

Q: Was she on the way to the airport to fly in a fuel guzzling private jet? Was the jet going to fly someplace she wanted to go anyway?
Sep-24-05
A: I have been trying to discover whether she took a private or commercial jet. No data yet. After being mocked by Hannity, my guess is that she came in on a commercial flight, first class. The Sierra Club would have taken care of that for her. I doubt that they would have paid for a private jet for her, but, hey, I am amazed that they sent a Suburban to pick her up. Who knows. Hannity has been sent this info, and I'm a little disappointed that he didn't jump on it. This is a no-brainer for him to nail Arianna.

Q: Is Arianna seething with so much blind hatred that she is unable to safely operate this machine with her own hands?
Sep-24-05
A: I'm not so sure it is that as much as leftist elitist expects others to drive them around and wait on them. Remember, John Kerry had a guy go along with him who made his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and carried his lipbalm.

Q: Is this that lady who's husband turned gay rather than staying with her?
Sep-24-05
A: Well, I don't know that she actually turned him gay, but we like to think she did. As she told Hannity about her private jet trip, maybe Michael --was going there anyway. She is doing really well after the divorce, spending the Huffington oil and gas money.

Q: Is it true that this vehicle only runs on gas obtained from the Alaskan wilderness?
Sep-24-05
A: If only that were so. At the Sierra Summit 2005, they showed a photo of the Alaskan Natural Wildlife Preserve (ANWR). It was a beautiful picture of flora and fauna. What is really going on is that the proposed drilling is on a very small portion of ANWR, and what you really see is nothing but ice for miles and miles and miles. If we don't seek more energy at home, Arianna is going to have to use fans instead of central air conditioning in the summer. Or, perhaps she can hire more servants to fan her manually. She may even be forced to associate with the riff-raff on commercial flights on JetBlue in lieu of her private jet excursions.

Q: DFU: Isn't this the greatest? (I had to ask a question, right?) Thanks, Doug. I love Freepers. Bamanative
Sep-24-05
A: Where would we be without FreeRepublic.com? You can't imagine how much fun this has been. Driving Miss Arianna is on over 70 blogs, and it has been discussed on Tony Snow, Mark Levin, Mr. KABC, Dr. Bill Wattenberg (KGO, San Francisco), Al Rantel, Melanie Morgan, Michael Graham, and Roger Hedgecock. I urge all of you to email this listing around the world. The SUV owner's association (SUVOA) was sent the info, and they are definitely enjoying it. If only I could have gotten Algore in the Escalade. Maybe he would have autographed it for me. I would have gratiously let him use the photo to send out to his friends in a photo Christmas card. His pal Terry McAuliffe has an Escalade. Let's bombard Brit Hume with emails so it get's shown on FOX News. NOTE TO ARIANNA: If you weren't behind guarded gates in your 9,000 sq ft home, I would borrow a Suburban and deliver some flowers for creating this opportunity.
