I held my breath eleven months to post this rubbish, and all I got was this lousy zot. (Arianna SUV)

Doug From Upland's siting Arianna Huggington and Al Gore exiting large vehicles at a conference on the environment in San Francisco has set the blogs afire. But there are legitimate uses for large vehicles. Really there are. The I just don't think one person driving the LA freeways in one because the want to win a collision contest at the expense of the unfortunate person they might collide with isn't one. Neither is having bigger, always spinning wheels than your neighbor. Neither is because you get a tax writeoff for a vehicle you use only for commuting and driving to the convenience store for ciggaretts and Cheesy Puffs.

The Sierra Club is an organization that uses large passenger vehicles wisely, it's the nation's number one outdoor activity organization - the Sierra Club. They use their large vehicles to take people hiking, rafting, etc. When they go afield fill the vehicles with people and gear rather efficiently, using much less gas than if they all drove individual vehicles in groups of 2 or 3. The Suburban they picked Arianna in may well have been the Sierra Club's designated airport vehicle - with features for handicapped (something the Sierra Club is known for) and perhaps airport parking sticker.

As for Gore driving an Escalade. Is that the Escalade that coverts from open-bed truck to enclosed bed (SUV?). And isn’t Gore from an Agricultural state. In fact, if I recall he’s a farm boy; probably lives on a working farm. Sorry city boy but low-ground clearance, two-wheel drive freeway flyers just get stuck in that Iowa mud down on the farm. Once again, if you nail Gore for driving an “SUV”, the BS you smell emanating as he exits his vehicle may be real and I for one am not about to tell farmers and ranchers, or people that have to drive on farm or ranch roads, they can’t have a truck or other large, high wheelbase vehicle.

It's amazing the hunger for fresh liberal blood. But just like the Swiftboat Vets before him. By the time the undamming truth of DFU's charges comes out, the little weasel will have moved on to the next unsustinable smear campaign.

The weakness of a free society is it's vulnerability to outside terrorists.

And USN’t Gore from an Agricultural state. In fact, if I recall he’s a farm boy; probably lives on a working farm.

As previously mentioned, Gore was born and raised in Wash DC, because his father was the Senator from Tenn. I believe it was his grandfather and other relatives left back in Tenn, who were farmers. And what was the crop that they prefer to grow? Can anyone guess? Well it was TOBACCO!!! And Gore a few years ago, crying tears, trying to win sympathy and votes, would tell a story about his sister dying from cancer, because of her cigarette use. I can understand his pain, by losing a family member, as almost of us can. But I never saw Al Gore demand that his family stop profiting from the growing & selling of tobacco. I bet, even to this day, Gore's family profit from tobacco, and especially the farm pork grants, for not growing as much as they can.

And the Democrat's beloved Kennedy family. Yes I will agree that there has been some "unfair" tragedies thrust upon that family. But not to much different for this "mafia-like" family, than other crime families of the present and the past. Remember Joseph Kennedy Sr. did only marginally well as a "stockbroker", before the big crash in '29. His, and subsequently the Kennedy's wealth was derived from "Rum Running", during prohibition. Ole Teddy, is probably joyous, the the forfeiture provisions in the "RICO", can't be used against him and his family. Just curious, how much heating fuel is needed in the winter to keep the "Kennedy Compound", nice and toasty, this winter. While others will freeze because, people like him, his nephew, and niece try to block elements of Bush's Energy Bill.

You make an accurate point about the utility and versatility of large SUVs and why people drive them. I know; I'm on my second Navigator in five years and find it the best vehicle I've ever owned because of its convenience and tremendous versatility. I doubt there are many people who put out over $50,000 for a vehicle without having a very good idea why they bought it. Indeed, as you pointed out, that's probably why the Sierra Club and Al Gore use large SUVs.

What you totally failed to understand about DFU's posting is that he wasn't attacking the Sierra Club and Al Gore for using large SUVs; he was attacking their galling hypocrisy of using such vehicles to satisfy their needs while they simultaneously attack the rest of us for doing exactly the same thing with our large SUVs.

You can best recalibrate your eyesight, thus improving your spelling and grammar, by not snorting acid, angel dust and elephant droppings simultaneously.

Other than that, how are your goosesteeping fascist buddies at the Sierra Club? Are they still holding Klan meetings in South Carolina, developing ways to kick black farmers off their property?

You know, I seem to remember Babs Streisand lecturing people on saving energy too. Something about not using electric clothes dryers, and moving into smaller, more energy efficient homes... And this while she owns multiple, gigantic homes, that interestingly enough, don't seem to have clothes lines in their back yards...

Just more of "the annointed" telling the rest of us peons how we're supposed to be living out our lives.
