From a transcript of a news conference given today by Curt Weldon, he said: The first week the story broke in the New York Times, I was in Pennsylvania that Friday doing district work and I got a call at my office. My chief of staff took the call, and it was from a person Id never met in my entire life. Id never mentioned her name. She was on vacation and asked my chief of staff for me to call her back.
Her name was Jamie Gorelick.
Wow. Read the whole thing.

My belief is that it is touch and go for the US at this time, considering all the self-serving magistrates we are saddled with. Unless the people become more aware of the typical shallowness of their elected officials, and vote for a big change, we are headed for the trash heap of history.
Quelle surprise, another failed democratic republic?
Why is Weldon pussyfooting around with all this "I'm going to tell you SUCH huge news!!!" nonsense? Why doesn't he just go ahead and hold the press conference and give his speech and let the chips fall where they may? I'm starting to wonder if this is going to be like Geraldo opening up Al Capone's vault.
I see your bump and raise you a btt

Prob'ly just a coincidence that the 9/11 Omission studied documents only going back to 1998. No connection at all.
Just my opinion:
I know it's fun to hope Sandy Berger is implicated someway in shutting down Able Danger. But Able Danger was a Pentagon project. I think it far more likely Bill Cohen, Secretary of Defense, or Hugh Shelton, Chairman Joint Chiefs, ordered Able Danger dismantled after Pentagon lawyers proclaimed it 'illegal'.
Those lawyers didn't have a clue about specific terrorists. They were only concerned with the military, via Able Danger, violating the rights of legitimate American citizens.
Even though Jamie Gorelick left the Pentagon in 1997, and Able Danger was dismantled in 2000, she would have maintained contact with Cohen, Shelton, and Pentagon lawyers. It's not outrageous to think she might even have informally, been asked her opinion on the legality of Able Danger.
There's no doubt in my mind, Gorelick's first instinct would have been to protect the Clinton administration from allegations the Pentagon had a secret project going, that was violating the rights of American citizens.
PING- mark for possible Wednesday news.

Thanks so much for the link and all of the info there. That's a lot of work and is greatly appreciated.
About a month ago, I was listening to an interview of somebody who wrote a biography about Hillary. It wasn't Morris; I believe the guy was a Liberal NYT columnist, whos taken a lot of flak for his book on Clinton.
When asked about Able Danger and a Hillary connection, he responded he wasn't familiar with the details because it hadn't come up until after he researched and wrote his book. But he did insinuate the operation was similar to something that would have come out of the Clinton's "War Room" which was headed up by Hillary. He also explained how much of the documentation from the "War Room" was destroyed before the Clintons left the White House, which would explain why there's not much evidence of the Able Danger project.
Of course this is all supposition but it does follow a pattern of the Clintons.
And THAT depends upon who gets to write it.
My take is a little different than yours. I believe that the "Gerolick Wall" was put in place so the DOJ could not garner any information that the DOD had gleaned as to Clintoons campaign financing scandals. The fact that the DOD, which had made the link between Atta (and other perps?) and AQ, was forbidden to give this info to the DOJ was an unintended consequence. IOW, the means used to cover up Chinagate, Riady, etc. also (inadvertantly) covered up the Atta-AQ link and that he was in this country.
Something new in the interview.
That Able Danger had been TASKED to examine Chinese proliferation. We heard before that Stanford and Condalezza Rice had been implicated (yeah right, Condalezza was selling military tech to the Chinese from her Academic bureaucracy post) ...
but now we know that Clinton's military tech. transfers were at least being looked at by someone in government (someone who was shut down soon after.)
Thanks for the ping. I listened to this press conference, although coverage was interrupted whenever the House was back in session.
I saw the blogger wondered where the mosque was -- where the woman purchased a photograph of Atta.
This reads like an exact transcript and maybe it is. But I thought Weldon said the mosque was in California. FWIW.
I'll be watching Wednesday!
