The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

WWL-TV reported St. Bernard Parish is gone.

The entire news crew was speechless after reading the update.

"but there was never any looting (in fact in all 4 storms last year I don't remember any reports of looting), or sense of everything spiraling out of control, and that's the sense I'm hearing from the gov't officials there, they sound like they're shrugging their shoulders and saying, "What can we do?"

I live in Polk county. We were ground zero for Charley, Frances and Jeanne. Today, all of the locals are talking about the lack of looting during our three storms and how neighbors helped each other out. People that had generators were offering to refrigerate neighbors foods, everyone with chainsaws cleared roads and other people's property without being asked and we helped each other tarp damaged roofs. In the evenings, those with BBQ grills would cook out and people would 'get to know' each other.

The people on the overpass are safe for the moment. They're probably concentrating their efforts on the others still trapped in their homes and apartments.

My guess is that the gangs have already looted the local urban neighborhood areas yesterday and now they are looking for other destinations today.

What do they mean by "gone?" Swallowed by the Gulf?

They can move these people here...some will think I need tin foil...anyway I know there are military bases closing (my son just left one) which will work just fine. Now only to move them, Navy is on the way just keep there head's above water.

GODSPEED.

There over 600 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States.

The Salvation Army is (shhh, don't tell anyone) a church organization....

Sadly, the secret is out which is why fewer and fewer big names allow them in front of their buildings at Christmas.

I think Target is one.

It is "Thou shalt not be offended" thing.

Sandy, they have got to do more than one thing at a time. These people are dehydrated, out of food, baking in the sun, old people who need medical attention, there are pregnant women there and no one is telling htem anything. They found out the Superdome is being evacuated and have no idea what is going to happen to them.

The heat index today is supposed to be 110. People are going to start dying there.

I just saw a report with Phil Keating and he interviewed this man that was MAD...saying there were dying people, diabetics...no food...kids...

I have a feeling that if something isn't done today...it may be real anarchy and chaos...

If they can't get ambulances and help to those people, how are they gonna get buses to them to get them to the Astrodome?

The ACLU sued the Salvation Army too within the past 2 years.

I think the drug addicts are the folks breaking into hospitals, etc. Their supply has been washed away is my guess and now they need a fix which makes them even more dangerous IMHO.
