Question:
Ignoring all legal issues....
Would you care/object if your children's teacher was openly (not flaming) gay?
Would it make any difference if the gay teacher was male or female?
Would it make any difference if the gay person taught elementary, middle school or high school?
There is no evidence of this. If anything, the last couple of decades have debunked the notion that homosexuals make up anything more than 1-4% of the population.
There have, and always will be, a small percentage of people who are only sexually attracted to members of their own sex. There is no evidence that such percentage has ever changed during human history.
Your proof has been published several times on this website. There are several scientific studies proving that the instance of pedophilia among homosexual males is many times the instance among heterosexual males.
If you want to know the truth it is easilly obtainable but I bet you don't. All you will do is whine that you want me or someone else to do your digging for you.

NO
There are. Look it up. As you can see, I'm busy proving that no matter what denomination, no church is perfect. Pedophiles infest every profession where they can get close to their victims.
If you think homosexuality and pedophilia are unrelated, read the article and ensuing thread.

Root Causes, Homosexual Consequences
"What you do in the privacy of your home is your business, but, when you bring that chosen lifestyle into the public arena, then it is time to place limits on this kind of behavior."
If someone is "openly" heterosexual [Student: 'Teacher, did you enjoy your vacation last week. Our substitute was nice.' Teacher: 'Yes, my husband and I took our kids to Yellowstone' ]- then was the teacher bringing their "chosen lifestyle into the public arena", and is that, as you say, behavior that "it is time to place limits on". Or, would your standard only apply to the same conversation, where the 40-year old male teacher answered: "My room-mate and I went hiking in Yellowstone."
So, really, I do not think you are seriously trying to apply a "keep your lifestyle private" standard for all teachers, just "gay" teachers. Right?
Rabbi is 2.67% of the hits for priest.
Why your question and what is your motive/angda? What a person does in their private/sex life is off limits in the work place ESPECIALLY in the classroom. Drop it. Get over it. My straight teachers did NOT make a point of being straight -- why is it the gay teachers can't leave their private/sex life in the bedroom? Why your need to discuss this at all?
If you went by google hits you would probably determine (based on the amount of media coverage lately) that far more female teachers are having sex with young boys than male teachers having sex with young girls or boys. So are female teachers now the new face of pedophilia in our schools?
Thats my point.

I view homosexuality in the same way that I view any other sin, and homosexuals as any other sinner. It's not really my place to judge them, as I have enough sin of my own to worry about. However, my job is to make sure my children have good examples of honorable, godly behavior exhibited in front of them. A teacher has immense power to shape a child's mind due to sheer volume of time spent with those kids.
I would no more approve of someone who is openly an adulterer flaunting his/her affair in front of my children daily than I would a gay man/woman. Homosexuality is, according to the Bible, a sin. Anyone who blatanly flaunts their sin, and tries to make it acceptable and normal is not a good example for my kids.
And yes, the fact that statistically speaking more child molesters are gay would weigh heavy on me.
You asked for honesty. That's my opinion, like it or don't.
I used google as it was the instrument suggested by someone responding to a post of mine to them.
How are anyone's religious beliefs affected by the tolerance of homosexuality in our society?
How can your grandchild be affected, to be adopted out to some homo couple? Its already happening to a lot of folks I'm afraid, right here in the good 'ol USA.
It's probably happened to a handful, but to describe this as an epidemic defies reality.
There are families whose adult children are pretty fouled up in their lives, and their children "get into the system". God or somebody help if this happens to you or yours.
I know more about this than you know. In such a situation, the grandparents and/or other family members should step in and get custody before the child ends up in the system. If a family cares so little about a grandchild so as to allow him to get put into the system, the kid is probably better off with the gay couple who wants to adopt him. In any event, gays are generally pretty low down on the adoptor list. Straight, married couples are the preferred choice in every adoption system in this country.
When we get laws and attitudes to favor and condone, enshrine as rights this perversion, we are all doomed to bend over and take it.
That's not going to happen anytime soon. Homosexuality is protected from discrimination in very few places in this country.
Our churches (or I guess I should say mine) will be threatened with endless lawsuits to shut up, as these thoughts I am expounding on will become illegal thought crimes, like what is starting to happen in Canada.
Barring a revision of the 1st Amendment, such a fear is utter nonsense. Your church will remain free to say whatever it wants about homosexuals.
In case you have somehow managed to avoid reading about homosexuality on FR for the last several years, there is a huge "gay" agenda pushing the "gay is good" message in schools.
Homosexual teachers often make a big deal of it in the classroom - up to and including diagrams of how it's done. You think that's not a big deal?
All the teachers were required to coach a sport in the afternoons. The most flaming gay professor obviously had no interest in sports and would just tell the students to do what they had to do.
There never seemed to be a problem with these three. Although, like many professors, they also were in charge of dormitories, it was not a problem to steer clear, and I never heard of them applying pressure to anyone. I did once see one of them taking a student out to dinner in his car. The student seemed a little questionable himself.
There was another teacher at this school who was married and not rumored to be gay, but who nevertheless gave me the creeps. Many years later he was arrested for possession of child pornography.
I think that there are many excellent teachers who are gay and they should not be dismissed just for being gay. When my older son was in college he told me that the male teaching assistant in his economics course always wore a skirt. I thought this was pretty disturbing and suggested transferring to another section. My son later said that this guy actually turned out to be an excellent instructor and he learned much more economics from him that from the professor in charge of the course.
My kids had an openly gay teacher in high school. I didn't care and neither did they.....as long as the discussions remained about English literature.
Repeat after me: NO ONE CARES IF ONE IS HOMOSEXUAL. The only time it becomes an issue is when the discussion and actions become inappropriate and that goes for heterosexuals too.
For some god-awful and unknown reason, homosexuals have to blare facts about their sex lives that are entirely inappropriate to any social situation that isn't in a bathhouse.
