President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
Ben Shapiro?
Ann?
If this holds true, I want to see all of those 'true conservatives" who were claiming "Bush is just going to screw us again" to either apologize or disappear...
(Yes, I'm talking about you, Willy Green and company.)
Wrong - a Chief Justice can be elevated from among the Associate Justices on the current court and the new nominee could simply be one of 8 "Associate Justices" - not saying that will necessarily happen, just that it could.
Say hello to Chief Justice Scalia or Chief Justice Thomas!!! :^) (maybe, I sure don't claim to know)

"Judge Roberts is a member of the Elect, having clerked for the renowned Judge Henry J. Friendly of the Second Circuit, followed by then-Associate Justice Rehnquist."
Just a hunch, but you think this is one reason why Rehnquist decided to put off his resignation? Probably to welcome Roberts in Oct. when SC rejoin?!
Bigtime.
I chose him a few days ago on this site's poll.
My apologies, LOL... :)
"We will someday have 9 Marxist interpreters who make new law."
That sounds like "fun". Sign me up!!!
"Although, I would have been happy with Ms. Brown."
There's plenty of room coming up for her. I think Rhenquist is just there for one year. And Ruth Bader is having trouble holding down the guacamole.
That's another good sign.
This guy is in. Even the repulsive Jim Warren from the Chicago Tribune says he is a good pick.
Ted Kennedy picking a Supreme Court judge is like Rosie O'Donnell editing a fitness magazine.
Excellent pick and as I have already posted he sounds like a pro lifer.
A lactating hippo is more like it.
WE can all be happy with this one. Let the games begin!
That is hardly a given.
It would please me if Bush ditches identity picks.
I would try to just be happy with this...he did not pick Gonzales whom we do know a bit about and neither Clement who don't know much about.
Roberts has a proven good record..almost as solid as Luttig or Brown.....
Let's bitch when and if W does pick a moderate
"Why was Arlen reported as pleased???"
ON MTP Sunday, Arlen hinted that the nominee should be conservative to balance the court.
