BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

WWW.FT.COM Tony Blair calls it TERRORISM. Here is the lead excerpt (God have mercy on the UK): "Multiple explosions on the London Underground and at least one bus have killed two and left dozens with “terrible injuries” in what prime minister Tony Blair said was a co-ordinated terrorist attack timed to coincide with the G8 summit. Mr Blair, speaking in Gleneagles, described the attack as “barbaric”

Just heard someone formerly with the CIA for 20+ years say it's AlQ. He speculated that the blame game would go on by pointing the finger at various other countries/terror groups. It's AlQ and, contrary to what we've been hearing, "Their backs have not been broken". It's either AlQ, he said, or a pretty good imitation.

Please...tell me the G8 is NOT going to sit down and resume talks about global warming.
#####

They don't actually "do" the talking at these "summits." The decisions are made by each nation's teams ahead of the gathering; all agreements are already made; the gathering is for the record only.

So it really puts all these summiteers in a bind to change the message on such a day of crisis as this one is.

This may actually "help" Bush with he WOT (not that I'm glad it happened). Gets more Europeans and some of the American middle and soft-left back on track regarding the means necessary to defeat these scumbags.

Thanks for your info and prayers. Flitton, your detailed data is much appreciated and certainly sets my heart at more ease. I will appreciate your ping if you spot the helpline sometime today.

I've been wanting to purchase a map of London, but I've put it off for years. One of those things. Today, I'll hit the book store and see if they have one. I hope I don't have to use it much in the future.

Oh, my. This is all just awful. God bless the British. They must be quite unnerved right now, but when the pedal hits the metal, they have nerves of steel.

I firmly believe these attacks will only further the resolve of Blair and the Brits.

I concur, but I worry that the jihadis may have realized that their biggest mistake post 9-11 was the lack of a follow-up event. My fear is that something else is on the agenda. The G-8 conference was set well in advance, our enemy must know that at least Blair, and possibly other heads of state will immediately come to London with what will be hastily put together security. Make no mistake, they want Bush and Blair.

I hope im wrong.

Cheer up -- we all do, too.

But the Brits are made out of pretty stern stuff, and they'll figure out pretty quickly that they were going to have to deal with this stuff sooner or later, so why not now?

It's the French who are fooling themselves.

Now, what the Danes and Italians will do is anyone's guess.

"Terrorists Strike London With Series of Blasts"
Thursday, July 07, 2005

LONDON —

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A previously unknown group, "Secret Group of al Qaeda's Jihad in Europe," claimed responsibility in the name of Al Qaeda for the blasts, according to the Italian news agency ANSA. The group claimed the attack in a Web site posting and warned Italy and Denmark to withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, ANSA said.

The claim could not be verified and did not appear on any of the Web sites normally used by Al Qaeda."

Bush heading to make his statement. He expressed our condolences, appreciated Blair's determination & strength, he's carrying a message of solidarity, he asked our security folks to get in touch with local officials re: the London situation. He says it's "vivid to him", G8 working on AIDS, environment and poverty while some are killing and have evil in their heart. "The war on terror goes on." "We will not yield to the terrorists..."
