FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) A military jury has convicted Sgt. Hasan Akbar on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder stemming from an attack on an Army camp in Kuwait.
Will this scumbag be placed in general population with other prisoners on death row?, because if this happens, he's dead already.
Jeff
Excellent news! Since it was the military, this is what was pretty much expected.
No, he will hold on to his rank until he is sentenced. In this case I am sure he will go straight to E-1
I have a friend who was a military guard a Ft. Leavenworth. He told me stories that would curl your hair. I think I would prefer the needle.
How's the son doing?? I have't heard/read/seen.
Then we need too pressure Bush into action. We need too speak up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff
Party time in Fayetteville tonite!
I am sure he will go straight to HE1l.
HOOAH...101st.......they got him!!!
But God help you if you're guilty, 'cause the board sure won't.
Yeah, I've also heard people say that a court-martial is the best place to be if you're innocent. I guess that's a way of saying the military justice system is better than the civilian justice system.
LOL!
Yeah ... that's good. The best of all is the electric chair ... followed closely by the guillotine. Standard procedure today is to execute a condemned murderer like you would put an old beloved dog down ... gently and in a painless fashion. Need to ratchet up the tension of murderers on death row ... make them think about how unsavory their final moments will be. Also would serve as a deterrent to potential killers.

A jury has unanimously found Sergeant Hasan Akbar guilty in the attacks on fellow soldiers just days before the Iraq war.
Akbar was charged with two counts of first degree murder and three counts of attempted first degree murder.
Two officers died and 14 others were injured.
A sentencing hearing will be held to decide his fate.
Prosecutors say Akbar told investigators he launched the attack because he was concerned U.S. troops would kill fellow Muslims in the Iraq war.
Justice served. For a change.
Death...forthwith.
The military justice system is the best. I was in Army JAG for 17 years and now in civilian life law offices for 13. Military law is superior in criminal law to the crap of civilian law. Military Judges rule. They run no-nonsense courts. If you pay to have your own civilian lawyer, that lawyer plays by the military rules or his butt is out of there. I have seen hundreds of courts-martial. From simple drug possession to murder. I have never attended a court that I felt the accused got screwed. The accused has tons of rights and they are followed to the letter.
bump!
Review is first within the Army, then to the Court of Military Appeals, and then to the Supreme Court (which doesn't have to, and in this case won't, agree to hear the case). The regular federal Courts of Appeals have no jurisdiction.
