TERRI SCHIAVO DAILY MARCH 2005 PART 6- NO FOOD OR WATER IN THE 6TH-7TH DAYS - GOOD FRIDAY
various | 3-24-05

Posted on 03/25/2005 12:17:45 AM PST by STARWISE

Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.

If I'm understanding you correctly, your premise has a flaw. In 1990 when she "collapsed", no one thought eating was a medical intervention. Terri would not have done so either. In 1990 it was also illegal so that even if she'd had a Living Will, it wouldn't have included dehydration till death.

I respect the rule of law and our system of government rather than vigilanteism.

You would have been on the wrong side in many of our country's conflicts such as the Revolution and desegregation.

The judge will have his judgment day.

My only hope is something good comes of this but, unfortunately, the real story may never come out.

Good idea. Posters who come on this thread to taunt should be ignored. They know what this thread is about. Terri and praying for her.

They come to inflict pain. To see how much hurt they can cause. Everytime one of us responds, they derive pleasure.

Oh, so you pointed out to him that she was in a PVS and that the video clips that they keep REPLAYING OVER AND OVER were culled from HOURS of video wherein it was clear that her actions were random or ortherwise not indicative of cognition? That her cerebral cortex has liquified, and that her condition is irreversable?

Regarding calling the DCF... I did just that a few minutes ago. I spoke with a very nice woman named Tiffany. They know all about the case. She took my information and documented the call... however, she had been instructed that they were not going to do anything about the complaints. She was actually sympathetic... but no action.

I told her that I had been following the case, and that it was my understanding that DCF didn't need Greer's permission to rescue Terri.

If Terri sat up right now and said, "Get me out of this freakin' bed and bring me a steak!" she'd still be starving to death because Greer wouldn't allow anyone to bring it to her. This case is about setting a precendent to allow euthanasia, plain and simple.

We are hurt and angry, because we wanted Terri to live.
We have to realize that God showed us Terri so we can know what's going on, the evil that has become commonplace in the current world, and we can realize how important it is to be seen doing the Christian walk, standing up for life, and to we witnesses by our own actions to his way.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't,
than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

To no one in particular ...

Ask any mother whose young one is crying ... "bellyaching" as it were ... and who knows the immediate remedy ~ food ~ . I do not believe Michael Schiavo would not feed his own children. I cannot believe that he believes that hunger isn't painful. His own children are witness.

To no one in particular ...

There is a restraining order that NO ONE is allowed to give food and drink to Terri ... does that mean that every kind of mishap/ailment/calamity is now a thing of the past? Should babies now be born as fully functioning people?

As I said, to no one in particular ... just thinking out loud. Sorta' clarifies the extent of evil, and hypocrisy.

PLEASE take action for Terri. Terri said: "Where there's life, there's hope."

This is from a thread posted by Deo volente with CONTACT info for Governor Bush:

The Right to Life

National Review Online ^ | March 24, 2005 | William J. Bennett and Brian T. Kennedy

The "auxiliary precautions" of Florida government — in this case the Florida supreme court — have failed Terri Schiavo. It is time, therefore, for Governor Bush to execute the law and protect her rights, and, in turn, he should take responsibility for his actions. Using the state police powers, Governor Bush can order the feeding tube reinserted. His defense will be that he and a majority of the Florida legislature believe the Florida Constitution requires nothing less...

In taking these extraordinary steps to save an innocent life, Governor Bush should be judged not by the opinion of the Florida supreme court, a co-equal branch of the Florida government, but by the opinions of his political superiors, the people of Florida. If they disagree with their governor, they are indeed free to act through their elected representatives and impeach him. Or they can vindicate him if they think he is right. But he should not be cowed into inaction — he should not allow an innocent woman to be starved to death — because of an opinion of a court he believes to be wrong and unconstitutional...

Governor Bush pledged to uphold the Florida constitution as he understands it, not as it is understood by some Florida judges. He is the rightful representative of the people of Florida and he is the chief executive, in whom the power is vested to execute the law and protect the rights of citizens. He should use that power to protect Terri's natural right to live, and he should do so now.

If Terri had WANTED life support DIScontinued, she could have signed a Living Will. What was she suppose to sign to say she WANTED to be fed?

So DCF isn't going to do anything about the complaints? That in itself is against the law. MG! Greer has everyone cowering. What does that devil have on everyone? Something is very, very wrong and too many people are trying to cya. There's something bigger (wrong word but you understand) than Terri here. There will be very dark days ahead for the citizens of America and our government.

Florida law allows for oral declarations, not just written.

Did anyone here call the DCF to file an abuse complaint?

This story is unbelievable, but true. Hundreds and hundreds of people concerned about Terri have been calling the Florida Dept. for Children and Families giving details of her situation and asking them to do something.

Well, once again, Governor Jeb Bush has let Terri down. He is actually telling people NOT to call the DCF so their lines will be available for other calls! How odd that when I called yesterday the DCF counselor spent over 15 minutes asking me detailed questions about Terri and showing concern. If they were over-swamped with calls then why did this person willingly spend so much time getting information on Terri?

Folks, if any of you are thinking Gov. Bush has Terri's best interests at heart - wake up! Bush's spokeswoman said he wanted people to stop calling DCF about Terri because if we call in DCF won't be able to hear other calls "WHEN TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE."

Protesters in Schiavo case flood Florida abuse hot line

The Associated Press
Posted March 25 2005, 8:59 PM EST

TALLAHASSEE -- Hundreds of protesters trying to keep Terri Schiavo alive are calling the Florida Department of Children & Families hot line each day, and officials are concerned they could be jamming the line for people who are trying to report abuse unrelated to the case.

``The Department of Children & Families appreciates the concern expressed in a number of heartfelt calls to the abuse hot line on behalf of Terri Schiavo's well-being. Inadvertently these callers may be putting other neglected, abused and vulnerable citizens at risk,'' said DCF spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez on Friday.

The department typically receives 1,300 calls each day, handled by 140 operators over three shifts, on days that the Schiavo case is not in the news.

The department, citing reported abuse, has filed two petitions with a Pinellas County court seeking to take emergency, temporary custody of Schiavo, who has gone without food or water since a judge ordered the removal of her feeding tube March 18. Both have been denied and are being appealed.

Gov. Jeb Bush's office also asked protesters to stop calling the line.

``We understand the strong emotions on both sides, but we would implore people to please not call the abuse hot line because it could be preventing new emergencies from being reported when time is of the essence,'' said Bush spokeswoman Alia Faraj.
