Terri Schiavo - Won't Someone Help?
The National Ledger ^ | Feb 22, 2005 | L.A. Morris

Posted on 02/22/2005 9:41:17 AM PST by AliVeritas

Sixth Circuit Court Judge George Greer ruled late Monday afternoon that George Felos and Michael Schiavo cannot implement their stated plan to withdraw the gastric feeding tube of Terri Schindler-Schiavo until a hearing is held on Weds, Feb 23 to determine if the stay in effect from Greer's 2000 death order should remain in place while her parents, Mary and Robert Schindler Sr., continue with their legal options in trying to keep her alive.

The Schindlers had hoped to convince the court that starving Terri to death would violate her religious liberties. As a Catholic, the Schindlers contend Terri would not want to have her life ended.

If anyone ever deserved a second chance, it's Terri Schiavo, the central figure in a battle for the rights of the handicapped. She has no idea of the controversy swirling about her, and has been unaware of the fight for her life since she collapsed of a potassium deficiency in 1990. But regardless of the why and how, Terri's collapse starved her brain of oxygen, and she has never been mentally or physically revived past a semi-vegetative state.

Die in piece?

The intellectual capacity of the euthanasia crowd is registering to the left of the bell.

I used to work in a rehab hospital. There was a young lady there who was so much a vegetable that her parents went to court to have her tube removed and succeeded. I know their intentions were good however, according to the nurses (who were sitting at a table, some crying) said this "vegetable", cried and moaned and it was very difficult to watch her starve to death, she may have not know much but she certainly knew she was hurting and who knows, maybe she was like the one lady with the stroke, she may have know even more than they thought.

We're all praying for her, and her husband, cause he needs prayer. I pray that God will change his heart everyday!

How do you know that?

So, you believe that any married woman who happens to end up in a coma should be at the mercy of a husband as to when to end her life. So, you believe in free murder with the state's blessing simply by claiming that the sick wife once said she would not want to live in that situation?

So, have you ever thought that this also could happen to men? A man gets sick and in a coma and the younger wife can claim that "Gee, you know, I remember he said he would not want to live in a coma". So, he is starved to death so the young wife can get her inheritance and go on with her life among other eligible men.

Wonder if there would be series of husbands or wives that were starved to death (of course, because the spouse claimed they said they did not want to live in an unfunctional state). How easy for him also to withhold rehabilitation efforts, to shop for doctors he can pay for opinions as to her rehabilitative future (of course without any treatment)?

Just where is the proof of the sick person's wishes?

Also, did you ever think that possibly this husband wants this woman dead so that she can never get charges filed against what he did to her?

Or, do you believe that a man who has two children with another woman and is living with that woman for years now still actually loves the invalid? How many ex-husbands do you know that any woman would want holding her life or death in his hands - especially when they have a new family and a few years have passed?

Get real.

This is murder pure and simple.

May God help poor Terri and her parents since no one else is.

How proud we Americans must be to watch murder by our justice system abetting a man trying to kill an unwanted invalid wife.

One, It's funny how far off the deep end some people go here. I am SURE that if THEY were lying there just sucking air in, no thought process, no brain activity, just a dent in the sheets, they'd be begging to go with dignity.

Two, don't MEWL to me about the position of the Catholic Church on FASTING and starving oneself to death. Ask a priest.

Three, I have a LIVING WILL so that this DOESN'T happen to me, thus PUTTING my MONEY where my MOUTH is.

Four, if this was a welfare patient, sucking down tax dollars, would ANY of YOU feel different? Damn straight you would.

Five, get over it. You don't like my opinion? DON'T READ IT! DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO IT!

If they really love her ans want to save her life, then the will not jsut stand by and allow her to die.

Break in and kidnap her and take her to a waiting airplane that will take her somewhere she can be taken care of. It is what I would do if it were my sister.

That's exactly what happened with Hugh Finn here in Virginia.

You have yet to address the definition of suicide. Suicide is the killing of oneself. The Catholic Church's position doesn't come into play here, because it doesn't pertain to Terri's situation.

It will obviously take some strenuous thinking on your part to close the gap between your thought processes and reality, but I encourage you to give it a shot. It takes time, but muddled thinking can be cured.

Thanks for posting the transcript. That's what Michael is afraid of, that Terri will somehow be able to communicate what happened to her, and that he will be implicated.

I do believe that the Bible says that a man and women, when married, LEAVE their parents and CLEAVE to one another and become ONE BODY! How do YOU know that Terry did not tell her husband HER wishes? Her parents should not be in the picture. Her husband is the LEGAL immediate family. Don't complain to me about it, that is the legal system in America. I told my spouse MY WISHES and backed it up with legal paperwork. Now, open up those rusty irrigation gates to let a little new thinking in...

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Also, Mrs. Schindler is not in a "semi-vegetative" state. This is a lie that keeps being repeated over and over and over again.

I'm not taking this well

I can't imagine how Terri's family feels. I have only been involved in Terri's case for about 18 months and I am physically ill over the way the MSM is treating this.

I have published LIES! saying that the Judge issued a stay-- he didn't. Terri's family gave a statement for the media today at noon outside the hospice where they are holding Terri captive for torture and execution....

Was it anywhere in the news?

I couldn't find it....

I'm SICK of the MSM!

SICK!

I've been reading these threads for the past few days, and this is the part I don't understand. Her doctors said her brain was filled with spinal fluid, and she is now in a persistent vegetative state. When I ask for evidence that she is not in this is not the case, I get directed to a video her parents made that has been discredited by medical professionals. How am I supposed to know the truth?

With all due respect-- You don't know JACK about htis case do you?

Her "HUSBAND" cried in court when sueing for malpractice about how he needed the money- "For Terri. For her needed medical care and therapy." the day he got the check he stops by the hospital and orders ALL therapy STOP!

Then he shacks up with his honey--(How's that for "CLEAVING!") and gets his new attorney. SOmehow once he talks to his PRO-DEATH attorney- HUBBY MIRACULOUSLY remembers Terri really wants to die. Then he gives Terri's CARE $$$$ to attorney death to make sure Terri gets all the care she needs TO STARVE TO DEATH!

I realize you don't know the FACTS, but you might want to try knowing them before you start ADVOCATING on the side of killing handicapped women.....

Plus-- I am not sure if you realize this but DOCTORS ARE WRONG SOMETIMES! plus-- like any other trial-- you can get some to side with the prosecution and some with the defense... It is starkly apparent that Terry is NEVER COMING BACK!

Wow, where did you get your medical degree?
Maybe it's a degree in seeing the future.
OR...maybe you think you are God and know all things.
Shame on you.

Terri (you spelled her name wrong by the way) is not just a shell as you put it. She is the child and flesh and blood of two loving parents who just want to care for her until she draws her last breath. There's nothing wrong with that.

Her husband on the other hand seems to want her out of this world as soon as he can pull the plug. He doesn't want her to recover and talk. Sure makes me question why he is in such a hurry to have her silenced.
