Sean: "I used to be a FReeper. I haven't been to that site in years. I left FreeRepublic and everyone I know left FreeRepublic because of fringe elements that are there. They eat their own there."Silly over-reated child.
How long do you think he'll have something to say about these statements today about FR?

He gives Charlie Rengal a pass but calls us fringe people ???FR needs fewer fringe kooks & more folks like Sean's good friends Lanny Davis & Al Sharpton.

Remember the all-out and often vicious war here between the Arnold and McClintock supporters?
I fear that happening when we have our next national election. Those who call everyone a RINO who doesn't agree with them may be the ones he is talking about. And they will be the most outspoken and here in full force in the next Presidential campaign.
Some of us are afraid to tell how we really feel some times here, but that is the case on all forums most likely.

We should get Mike Gallagher to replace Hannity on Hannity and Colmes.

The only time I listen to him lately is if I'm traveling and he's the only option. Now, I'll just listen to the farm reports.

I'm not listening to Sean, haven't for quite some time, but what is his point? How does he back up his assertion? For example, what posters or posts does he define as "fringe?" I don't get why he's attacking Free Republic.
And, really, does he want to open himself to criticism of HIS boards?

I don't listen to Hannity except on the rarest of occasions. Not that I have not done so in the past. I tried for several weeks. He just does not have an interesting show. I will grant he did one heck of a job on election day 2004.
Same for Savage. He has some good points, but it's all the other 'stuff that gets tedious.
With that said, it can get shrill at times on any discussion forum. It's dissapointing to have folks calling each other "trolls" (I personally like the term "disrupter") when they don't agree on things. Some may remember a few years ago when that feature of the site was actually disabled.
After reading what folks state Hannity said, it looks like he was plugging his own forum at the expense of FR. That's odd, because wasn't he over the summer *plugging* FR as helping during the election of 2004? Didn't he say something about the Buckhead, et al contributions concerning 60 minutes?

Sean reads to many of his own press clippings and believes them.
I have looked at other Conservative forums but I can truthfully say none of them are as good as Free Republic.
One of the things that makes this website ideal is the way it is laid out and it's uncomplicated format.
Most of the ones you see are in the message board format and I find those just to much trouble to fool with.
I have to give credit to Jim Robinson and his staff for creating a very user friendly site which so far is superior to anything else I have seen on the web.

what prompted Sean's rash comments?Absolutely nothing!

"I really liked him a lot until now."
I still like him. I'm not sure what he means by fringe people. I've got a lot of "moderate" leaning characteristics that drive some freepers don't like, and I haven't been banned yet. How could this place possibly have been taken over by fringe people when a fringy like me is running around?
Despite all this, I still like him. He's more good than bad, and he's not all that bad. Lets not ostracize him.
To: 1Old Pro
300+ posts and after reading them I don't see the lunatic fringe dominating anything. Hannity's definition of "lunatic fringe" is anyone not subscribing to his website, paying to see the Hannitization tours or buying his books.
He's an old-line Conservative....we've broadened out MUCH further than he is confortable with, especially with humor.
No sense of humor, that's the biggest give-away that he's a DORK.
