Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. "Using that reasoning, they could have strippers perform at the Bush concert because they're also just entertainers and they don't speak for your morals or values, right?"
No, no...that's at the after party, and you're not supposed to mention it at all. Sheesh!
Hubby and I both hold PhDs, (his are in science, mine is in arts,) but neither of us holds one in shrinkology. :D We have left that for one of our sons.
My comments are based on lots and lots of reading, teaching and just life experience. And talking with my kid, who is **** stingy with his answers. :D
Good ta meetcha!
I thought George Bush just got re-eclected.
Well I have a dog in this fight. I am a Christian conservative who is absolutely fedup with the harping, blathering, intolerant, pompous, self-righteous, foolish, self-annointed faux-spokespersons spamming their flames, ignorance, and nannyism while completely misrepresenting Christian conservatives and sabotaging our efforts. You are the epitomy of the rabidly ignorant Taliban-esque stereotype that the left all too often successfully portrays as being the typical social conservatives, while in actually being the furthest thing from the truth. Christian conservatives are not Pharasees.
So shutup already, and stop smearing the good name and undoing the hard work of social conservatism.
LOL!!
There's a joke in there somewhere...
I was just surprised to see that vitrolic posts to you concerning that; as long as I've known you, I've always had the impression you were one of the most "moral" guys around here, never afraid to express what you thought about any given subject.
As I said, it confused me.
The decision to drop Kid Rock is probably just as much attributed to the Bush WH hearing some of his lyrics rather than pressure from outside. If KR didn't have the vulgarity in his music, the pressure wouldn't have worked. This is a classic example of persnal responsibilty. KR made a fortune sewing that rap. Now it belongs to his legacy.
Thank you.
Funny, Kid Rock got bashed hard for that song. I don't remember any campaign to defend him. Maybe I just missed it.
She probably WAS one of the bashers.
If it doesn't fit their exact mold, then it is of no use to them. It's counterproductive, in fact.
That song is obviously about the child of the songwriter who has been aborted, and now the songwriter is lamenting it.
Lol...Miss Thomas -- is a lovely flower whose leering smile lights up every post I've ever seen at FR.
Can't you see that???
My dad, who's in his mid-50's likes Kid Rock. Specially the duet with Sheryl Crow, "Pictures"
It doesn't HAVE to have profanity to be fun, but there is profane stuff that is fun(and profane stuff that isn't).
I use profanity at times. Other times I don't. John Kerry's F'bomb in ESPN was inappropiate as it wasn't the time or place(nor did he use it correctly). Cheney's (to Leahy) was perfect and got the point across in the correct matter.
"Some stupid Christian rock band?"
Please, dear God - NO STRYPER!
[sarcasm]
Maybe that bastion of moral values, the family-breaking Amy Grant can be invited?
[/sarcasm]!!
You Big Slug! (Iron Eagle's TV edit for You SOB)
The pressure came FROM the "Bible Thumpers"!! They were rude to impose themselves like this, anyway. It put these young ladies in an uncomfortable spot. I am quite sure that the President's daughter's have learned their lesson from previous escapades, and didn't want to risk opening their father up to attacks from those folks. Nice to know that these "Bible Thumpers" think it's okay to tell the President's daughters (who are adults, btw) how to comport themselves, or who to invite to their parties...or else.
It seems they have learned another lesson as well...to bow to outside pressure, on the off chance you may offend someone who has no business butting in. This was the girl's party, after all.
YEAH! What you said!
